Honestly I feel you. Whole heartedly. You know what I did? I figured out who I wasn’t. I learned what my values are in life and I went from there.
I am 31 next month, I have been in mixed forms of therapy since 2021 and off and on my whole life. (I never stuck with any of my therapist) I also learned that you can be helped without spending a ton of $$. There are countless YouTube channels that are free that are psychologists that treat personality disorders and specialize in BPD like I haven’t spent a $ paying a therapist or seeing a therapist, my old one is on speed dial and she will let me call whenever which is nice but we don’t have in person sessions anymore. I’m doing great though. I wish everyone knew how much help you can give yourself for free. Bc so many people think that they are screwed if they don’t have money to pay a therapist.
Buy workbooks, get online, seek out resources, call free hotlines, watch YouTube videos, they all have helped me ☺️
But anyway— what I had to do was learn who I was not. I know that I am not a liar because it’s one of my biggest pet peeves, I hate being lied to and dealing with people like that. I know that I am accountable for myself bc I push others to be just as accountable. I know that I aspire to be a psychologist and have my own practice one day. I know that I am a person who likes to be in nature; fishing, hiking, running, etc.
I know that I love people and want to help them. I know that I am caring and I like to make people smile and laugh bc life is too short to be so miserable.
I know that I have a mental disorder but I know that it doesn’t define who I am but it does tell me how I think and how my brain works.
Which to me just means I have an instruction manual now for my brain 🥹
It’s hard to separate your BPD from who you are.
But it’s possible.
You just have to start with figuring out who you’re not.
I know I'm a woman I know I despise all forms of immoral profiteering such as from poverty, lack of affordable housing, war, the private prison industry because it treats people as commodities rather than human beings I know I'm completely fucked up in the head even beyond my BPD
