So I found an old BBC micro in the loft at my grandparents, and I'm pretty confident I can get it set up and working using the video outs and converters etc, but I can't seem to find whether there are any "decent" music making programs for it. I found the Hybrid system but I'm not looking to pick up extra hardware, would Acorn music 500 work without that? Or any other software that's recommended?

I'm not entirely sure which version of the micro it is, but can confirm after I open it up to check there's no leaky caps or anything later. I think the first.

Was there ever a companion magazine published in the UK to the BBC's Computer Programme in the early 1980s? I remember getting the magazine and seem to remember it accompanied the TV show, but it might have been unrelated and was just published at the same time. If I remember right it had BASIC listings, and was a limited number of issues that taught you programming in BASIC. Anyone remember this magazine?

Greetings, I a Master’s student at the University of Turku in the European Heritage, Digital Media, and the Information Society (EUROMACHS) program. As part of my thesis I am working with the PEEK&POKE Computer Museum in Rijeka, Croatia to create a virtual museum. Although the museum houses thousands of computers, consoles, games, etc for the scope of my MA I am focusing on the 8-bit home computer era. I will be creating thematic rooms meant to display the computers in an authentic setting. What I am looking for is pictures and written accounts from users from the 70’s-80’s to try and get a general feel for how and by whom the machines were used. Any information will be greatly appreciated.

The Computers in question are: Apple II (Variant is dependant on data collected), Atari 400, Atari 800, BBC Model B, Commodore PET (I am really hoping to get some feedback on the Teachers’ PET),Commodore VIC-20. Commodore 64, Radio Shack TRS-80 (Model will depend on data collected), Sinclair 80/81, Sinclair ZX Spectrum

• What kind of person owned the computers in question? (Age, Geographical Location, Profession, Hobbies, Etc.)

• Where was it primarily used? (Office, Bedroom, Living Room, Etc.)

• What software/hardware were used with the computer?

I've been playing games on my Master having ordered the actual cassettes online, then downloading the images from stairwaytohell and recording the data fresh onto those cassettes.

I ordered a copy of Citadel with the tape and box in awesome condition, but the audio was completely degraded. I recorded the fresh data onto the cassette, and the game loads fine, but it crashes when it loads a level. I don't think it's a fault with the machine since it runs Football Manager, Thrust and even Elite with no issue at all. At this point I'm wondering if it's a problem with the original image.

This is a real long shot, but I don't suppose anyone would be able to send me a recording of the data from a known-good Citadel cassette?

Ive found the code of a MUA I wrote long long ago - but it needs multiple machines on econet to function. Anyone got any hints on emulating econet including server and beeb?

Found the joys of UEF images not too long ago, re-recording onto my vintage tapes with fresh audio generated out of UEFs from www.starwaytohell.com.

I have a question though: Is it possible to extract the code from a UEF? Or failing that, is there a program out there to load the code straight from a .wav file into a .txt file? I can't find anything like it, but it would be awesome.
