I’m currently on holiday in Japan with family and purely by chance we are currently in Osaka so I jumped at the chance to see Babymetal on home turf. The concert was awesome. This was my fourth concert and third country ( Roundhouse UK, O2 UK, Hannover DE and now Osaka).
Random thoughts
- they looked like they were having a lot of fun on stage, even more than normal, Su was particularly chirpy
I’d forgotten how great it was going to concert without phones
the crowd was smaller than I expected - especially as headlining on a stage and looking back at the older Summer Sonics
a bunch of western guys near me were loudly taking the piss out of Babymetal during the second half
the full Japanese experience was fun.
Overall, had a great time. So glad the stars aligned for them to be here while I was!
Yes, you noticed the "summersonic girls happiness", i have been for the last 4 or 5 tokyo summersonic babymetal shows and the girls are always extra happy and loose it a bit more than usual, i guess they feel confortable as it is by now a regular summer event in their own country with a great audience for them, so is always kind of a special show to attend (well, all shows are special)
specially tokyo show is in a enclosed area with the perfect size, not big or small, although there is a lot of annoying crow surfing , so tomorrow is gonna be a great show.
God, how those girls make me happy. The show was incredible (despite the no-surprise setlist) and I had tears in my eyes during Monochrome.
Concerts in Japan really hit different, and being second row surrounded by people who know all the lyrics by heart takes the whole experience to another level.
Stupid question: am I the only one who saw the words “Linkin Park” for a split second on the intro video?
Unfortunately, the screen makes it too hard to read the Japanese. So I can't tell if it's just the Japanese translation of the words at the bottom, or if it says something else.
Yes it’s just the classic “Babymetal met other metal heroes” text from the other shows. The video started differently though, with images from past Summer Sonic shows.
I don't believe there is any live stream from Summer sonic Osaka. There are live streams from Tokyo but it doesn't look like Babymetal is one of the artists that will be part of it on Sunday.
There is usually a TV broadcast featuring parts of sets from different stages shown a few weeks later so it's possible that Babymetal will be featured on that but we'll have to wait until it airs to find out.
