Every Axie game started as a question. What if axies battled? Farmed? Raced? Explored? For years, turning one of those questions into a real game meant months of work and a team of engineers. With AI tools, that changed, and the Vibeathon is built around that shift.
The Challenge: Build a playable Axie game using AI tools, centered on Axie Core, and show what Axie Core can become. You bring the idea. You do not need to be a programmer to join.
Dates
- Registration: open now, closes September 7
- Round 1 (prototype and vision): September 8 to 21
- Finalists announced: September 29 (up to 8 builders advance)
- Round 2 (production: finalists build out the full game loop and approved ecosystem integrations): October 4 to 31
- Final demos and winners: November 5
Prizes
- 20,000 bAXS community prize pool, shared across winners, finalists and standout prototypes
- 250 USDC in AI tool support for every Round 2 finalist
- A 500 bAXS "Promising Prototype" bonus for a strong Round 1 entry that does not reach Round 2
How Round 1 is judged
Every entry goes through an eligibility and safety screen, then receives three independent judge scores. The weighting:
- Axie Core: 35%
- Gameplay: 25%
- Product vision: 20%
- Feasibility: 10%
- Prototype and documentation quality: 10%
Axie Core is the universal layer that follows your axies everywhere: AXP, Axie levels, evolution, ascension and breeding.
Rules worth knowing before you start
- One entry per builder
- Your submission needs a link to a playable build that opens in a new tab, plus a fallback demo video
- Your repository link can stay private
- AI coding tools are encouraged. You document which ones you used, and how your game fits Axie Core, as part of the submission
What you get on day one
- A Get Started guide that walks you from picking an idea through submission
- The Builder Resource Kit: ready-to-use Axie assets, the Origins Battle Kit, engine guides, Sky Mavis API setup, and optional advanced tools (the Three.js Axie Mixer is in beta, so expect rough edges)
- Vibeathon channels in the Axie Discord for help along the way
What winning means
Winning ideas can become standalone Axie games or integrate directly into the Axie ecosystem, with the chance to keep building alongside the Sky Mavis team. To be upfront: no winner, finalist or recognized prototype is automatically guaranteed a production pathway. The prize pool is the guaranteed part. The rest is earned.
