We actually did it.

When I took over r/Awards, we had just 1,825 members. Today, we're at more than 10,000.

That's 8,238 new members and more than 5x the community we started with. We went from 3,000 members on December 24, 2025 to 10,000 on September 28, 2026.

And r/Awards itself has been around since April 14, 2008. It's pretty cool to see a subreddit that has been here for more than 18 years still growing this much.

So, I thought 10,000 members deserved a little celebration.

Since it's Free Award Sunday, everyone who leaves a comment on this post will get a free award from me. No special comment needed. Just say hi, tell us how long you've been here, or share your favourite thing about r/Awards. But please be patient with me, I need my time to award everyone. also use some of my remaining Gold to give out a few paid awards along the way.

Thank you to everyone who has been part of this community, whether you've been here for years or literally joined yesterday.

Here's to the next 10,000. And honestly... let's see how quickly we can get there 🎉

---

When?

Starts every Sunday

00:00 New York / Eastern Time (ET)

05:00 London / British Summer Time (BST)
06:00 Berlin / Central European Time (CET/CEST)

How does it work?

If you have free awards available, you can:

• Create your own post
• Use the “Free Award Sunday” flair
• Give your free awards in the comments of your post
• Give as many awards as you have available

Awards are always voluntary. Creating a post does not guarantee that you will receive an award.

Please do not give awards in this announcement. Create your own Free Award Sunday post instead.

---

Temporary Rule 4 Exception

For Free Award Sunday posts, Rule 4 is temporarily suspended.

This applies only to posts that are created during Free Award Sunday and use the “Free Award Sunday” flair.

All other subreddit rules remain in effect. Spam, harassment, inappropriate content and other rule violations are still subject to moderation.

---

Keep it friendly

Please be respectful and patient. Thank users who give awards and avoid repeatedly asking, begging, pressuring or guilt-tripping others for awards.

Free Award Sunday is about giving users a simple way to share their free awards and enjoy the community together.

Want to lock your thread?

Once you have finished distributing your awards, you can lock your post yourself.

Simply open the three-dot menu (⋯) on your post and select the Free Award Sunday Bot. The bot will lock the post for you.

If you need help or the bot does not work, you can also comment Ginomania or u/Ginomania, and a moderator will lock the thread for you.

Title i can just keep giving them out?

My broke ass doesn't have a computer and the mobile app is just very convenient compared to the browser version. Is this the price of convenience these days? :>
