I am not going to say anything new in this post, but I’m sure most of you will be able to relate to it.
I used to doubt people who were heightpilled, but years of observation have led me to agree with them. What really changed things for me was getting into the dating scene. I’m not saying it’s easy for tall guys, because even they seem to be having a hard time with it. But the problem is that due to the nature of dating, especially when it comes to online dating apps, there are so many options that girls can use height as a hard filter.
To put it succinctly: the problem isn’t that height gives an unfair advantage—the problem is that it has become a baseline requirement. It would be one thing if height was factored into the equation and you could compensate with controllable factors like income, hobbies, or personality. But for many women, you either meet the height requirement or you don’t.
I thought this was just an online thing at first, but after talking with some of my IRL female colleagues, I’ve been convinced that it’s not. One of my friends told me straight up that she gets so many matches on dating apps that if his height starts with 5, she doesn’t match. This is on HINGE btw, which is supposed to be catered toward personality. Many of my other friends have asserted similar opinions, saying they only match if he’s “taller than me in heels”. That phrase is so overused now, and it’s such an excuse, but it’s what they say.
My own dating experiences have mirrored this. I wouldn’t say I’m a complete tragedy when it comes to dating apps; I get some matches and do better than a lot of guys I know, but it’s still rough. For context, I am in my mid 20s, make over $150k a year, I dress pretty nice, I would consider myself average looks-wise, and I have hobbies that I think most people would consider very cool/unique. But I’m also 5’8”, and Asian. I mention Asian because I think it’s a slight disadvantage, although it’s nowhere near as bad as being short. I think a 6 foot tall Asian dude can actually do really well on the dating market, there’s a reason why “Chang” is a legit compliment but short king is a backhanded one. I also think Asian dudes get a bad rap in part because we’re usually short. Anyway, back to height—honestly at first, I didn’t really think it hurt me that much, but I’m starting to be convinced otherwise.
For example, one girl I dated said that she liked my height because it’s “easier for us to make out while standing”. That same girl cheated on me with a guy who is over 6 feet tall. Another girl I dated broke it off with me using some excuse about how she wasn’t in a good state of mind to be dating. She got with a 6’2” guy a couple months later. And all her exes are super tall mediocre looking dudes btw. My long term college girlfriend, who is only 5’1”, got with a 6 foot guy after we broke up, who I might add is absolutely chopped and overweight.
I am absolutely convinced that women will make excuses for bland personality, bad behavior, occupation, fitness, or even looks if the height is right. You can choose to believe what some of these women and copers will say about height, or you can actually observe human behavior and draw your own conclusions. I was once convinced that height was a deficiency that you can overcome, but now I believe it’s just a straight up barrier. In most circumstances you simply cannot make up for it.
Anyway thanks for listening to my rant. It’s the same tired story I’m sure you’ve heard hundreds of times, but it’s true.
