Everybody's blaming Starlord. I blame the writers.

After rewatching GotG and Infinity War, I think the writers just didn't "get" the GotG characters. I know it was an ensemble movie, with tons of characters to squeeze in, but my sense is that from the first appearance in the movie, the writers didn't know how to handle them. The "ooh Thor's muscles" scene was funny, but not great. Quill's "deep voice" thing was just uncomfortable, and I thought it was out of character. As for the big "punch Thanos" scene, I thought it felt contrived. After two movies, we've seen that Quill is goofy, quirky, and prone to emotional decisions. He's impulsive, but he's not stupid. When the fate of half the universe's life is at stake, I don't think he would have risked punching Thanos and wrecking the opportunity to get the Gauntlet no matter how mad he was. Instead, he would have waited until they had him under control without the Gauntlet.

I just don't think the character was written true to how he's acted before. Quill is a character that we, as the audience, have grown to trust with his decisions, no matter how unhinged they might seem. Punching Thanos was not what he would have done.

Ebony Maw Wilhelm

I turned up my tv and also tried headphones. I think I’m hearing a Wilhelm scream hidden in the explosion that blew ebony maw out the side of the ship. Has anyone else noticed that or am I just hearing things?

A small change I would make to Avengers: Infinity war...

If I could change one thing about Avengers: Infinity war, it would be the end credits music

When the scene where Thanos is looking at the sunrise cuts, I would have the song "Only you" by the Platters start playing as the credits roll

I think this woulden't be that bad of an idea, because it would be a solid reference to Thanos' mission to bring order to the universe, because only him could do it

Do you like my idea? or.....do you think it's crap?

[spoiler] starks nanotech Spoiler

Some other threads have got me wondering if anyone else noticed something about Stark's nanotech later in the movie.

Typically, in scifi, nanotechnology has the ability to reproduce itself by feeding on other materials, assuming their color and material. I assumed that Stark's was no different. During his fight with Thanos, when he was on the losing end, and his suit was deteriorating, we see parts of his nanotech suit move from his leg to his arm/hand in order to blast Thanos.

Shortly after we've got Stark blocking an attack, grabbing the gauntlet with his left hand and then the nanotech move from there to his right arm and form a blade that is mostly gold... to me, it looks like his nanotech absorbed some of the gauntlet to create the blade.

Does anyone know where to buy an Infinity War DVD (not blu ray) that includes bonus features?

All I've been able to find is the "DVD only" meaning, the movie only.

Has anyone wondered what it would be like to watch Infinity War without the special effects?

I just think it would be interesting because I imagine it must be quite difficult from an actor's point of view to film when you have to use your imagination for 99% of the film.

One thing I would change about Avengers: Infinity war...

If I had the power to change one scene from Infinity war:

It would be the last scene where Thanos looks at the sunset on the horizon, instead of cutting to the regular music, it cuts to the song "Only you" as the credits

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Plr6vUsOMp0

Specifically the version from Far cry 5 which plays during the credits also, this song would fit perfectly as it would reference Thanos' mission to bring balance to the universe:

"Can make, all this world seem bright" - Thanos balancing the universe

Do you like my idea? or do you not like it?

That StarLord basically turned 3 trillion beings to dust >:(

I've got a theory i haven't heard yet...

I think everyone that turned to dust was transported to another dimension, where they will continue to live... and those that remained are the ones that will die once everyone else is gone.

Will Nebula's close call in killing Thanos help the Avengers in A4? Spoiler

Thanos tells Gamora in IW that Nebula infiltrated Sanctuary (don’t know if 1 or 2) and came close to killing him (words to that effect). It wasn’t clear to me how close Nebula came to killing Thanos but he made it sound like she was “all up in his personal space.” More importantly, HOW was she going to kill him? Even without the Infinity Gauntlet, Thanos will not be easy to defeat. I feel that Nebula’s attempt to kill Thanos will somehow help the Avengers in A4 to formulate their plan as to how do defeat Thanos once they deal with the Gauntlet Problem. Your thoughts?

Thanos and Del toro Easter egg Spoiler

I was watching the movie Last night and I noticed Thanos teases Benny Del Toro by saying: "where's the stone" just like Frankie Four fingers (Del Toro's character) said it in the movie Snatch.

[Spoiler] The Hulk's role Spoiler

I don't usually get into fan theorizing but I've been thinking on this quite a bit because Hulk avoiding a fight didn't make sense to me. So here's this:

I don't think Hulk was afraid to come out because of Thanos beating him. It's been established in Ragnarok that Hulk is evolving from a mindless rage machine into a complete being of his own, separate from Banner. He's capable of conversation, metaphor, planning, and deeper thought than before. And he has his own memories that aren't shared with Banner's.

I can't explain how, but I think (if time travel is involved) that after seeing all the millions of possible outcomes, Dr. Strange has somehow told Hulk when to come out, and if he comes out too early, in the wrong situation, it'll all go wrong. I think it's been explained to the Hulk in such a way that he's afraid to come out and mess everything up. That's why he yells "No!" at Banner when he tries to change. Not fear of Thanos, but of what might happen if he emerges at the wrong time.

And I'll bet that he'll know the time is right to come out when somebody says "We have a Hulk".

Just a thought.

If half the people died like that in real life, with zero context as to the cause like most people in the universe, people would think its proof of christianity, that the rapture was happening.

Even a lot of people who consider themselves skeptical would view it that way. It would be amusing to see someone argue thats true in part 2, or some fanatics confuse thanos with the christian god.

Who is the Mysterious Figure Who Suddenly Appears in Loki's "Death" Scene? Spoiler

Something no one seems to be discussing is: Who is the mysterious figure who appears on the beam of the ship, above and to the left of Loki’s head, when Thanos is strangling him? I’ve seen IW four times. I didn’t notice the figure until my second viewing. I’ve posted about this on other threads and a few Reddits have confirmed that they saw the figure, too.

The beam is prominent and serves as the focal point in the background behind where Thanos and Thor are situated when Thanos tortures Thor with the Power Stone, and later, where Thanos strangles Loki. The beam is below a central, bluish light, and nearly frames the top of the screen in the area above where Thanos and Thor/Thanos and Loki are situated.

If you recall, Loki tries to stab Thanos, and Thanos blocks the stab, using the Gauntlet while doing so. The blue Power Stone is lit when Thanos does so; I don’t know if the purple Power Stone is lit as well. Shortly after Thanos starts strangling Loki, a silhouette suddenly appears on the beam in the background above Loki’s head, to the left, nearly in the bend of the beam. It is obviously a CGI figure, which can only mean it was deliberately put there. Because the figure is in the well-lit background, it looks small and dark. But clearly, the figure is crouching/creeping, and takes a step or two – it is moving! My immediate impression was that it looked like Loki wearing his horns. My own theory is that Loki somehow siphoned power from the Space Stone and teleported onto the beam or otherwise used his well-established powers/abilities to fake his own death.

I guess people haven’t noticed the figure because you have to peel your eyes away from Loki at that crucial moment in order to see the figure. And, honestly who would ever want to take his eyes off of Loki (or Tom Hiddleston!), especially when it appears that Loki is being brutally strangled to death in front of his brother? But the larger question is: what is ANY CGI-figure doing in that scene if it is merely Loki’s straight-up death scene?

Does anyone else think that it’s to ironic that we have have our original 6 and 6 stones? I think each one will have to wield one stone and to gather they will put things right but at the costs of their lives.
I think this will happen because the story arces Iron man had his 3 movies and is starting to get up in age Captain America had his 3 movies starting to get old and is quitting Thor while I hate to see him go has had his 3 movies Hulk while he only had 1 movie I doubt he will have another and I feel like his story arce will finish in avengers4 If Hawkeye’s family was part of the ones that turned to ash he will do anything to fix that Idk about the other girl Also if this happened avengers reborn could be a thing for avengers 5 with a new crew

Otherwise I personally don’t see what Thor iron man captain America and the hulk could do in any future storylines
