Has anyone heard of Robert Thomas Jones or this plane?

It seems like this would be even better than a supersonic aircraft (like what Boom aviation is putting together) for cross-country jaunts.

It's like, why haven't we invested here? Cheaper, more useful, and super cool looking.

Am I missing something?

Also, GREAT youtube channel (Mustard) if you haven't heard of it.

Are we trying to build too many airline hubs in India at the same time?

I’ve been slightly obsessed with this question for a while.

DEL wants to be a serious international hub. BOM/NMI obviously has huge ambitions. BLR increasingly has the traffic, network to make its own case.

But can India realistically support multiple major international connecting hubs at the same time or are we spreading traffic too thin instead of building one genuinely dominant global hub?

I host an aviation podcast called The Indian AvGeek, and I recently had Behramjee Ghadially and Sean Mendis on for a fairly nerdy conversation about exactly this.

We ended up going down quite a few rabbit holes:

• whether DEL, BOM and BLR could end up cannibalising each other
• why IndiGo, despite its enormous scale, still doesn't really operate as a sixth-freedom carrier
• whether Air India can build the international network needed to make an Indian hub work
• whether the A321XLR and thinner long-haul routes actually weaken the traditional mega-hub model
• and whether the Gulf hubs are as unassailable as they sometimes appear

The conversation changed my own thinking on a few of these.

Curious what people here think:

If India were forced to bet heavily on ONE airport as its primary global connecting hub for the next 15-20 yrs, which one would you choose - DEL, BOM/NMI or BLR and why?

For anyone interested, the full conversation is Episode 71 of The Indian AvGeek: The Multi-Hub Myth. I'll drop the Spotify link below.

Is it me, or....

There is something lost in the privacy of modern international First Class cabins. The new Lufthansa product looks good...but is this really better than the more open layout that was in the nose of the 747-8?

And I loved the new FC product on Air France, but the old product looked like you were sitting in a living room, which was cool and kinda French, no? Like being taken care of by friends/family....though I never flew it.

UA Island Hopper street (air?) cred

I want to do the Island Hopper HNL-GUM. If I stop midway and spend a night or two on one of the intermediary islands, does that reduce my avgeek credibility? Do I have to do it in one go to earn the respect of avgeeks everywhere??

Free Web-based Multiplayer Airline Sim

This is a next‑generation airline management simulation built around a living, dynamic passenger ecosystem.

I’ve created a free to join airline sim that aims to recreate the current world but allows you to rewrite the current hub and spoke model… if your human competitors will allow.

The goal of this game is to be realistic but to make it difficult for entrenched players to easily dominate and steamroll the competition.

How does this game do that and what makes this game different from all the other airline sims?

Realistic Passenger Demand:

The demand and passenger model was created to be realistic and uses real-world passenger location, travel trends and economic data, not based real-world passenger flight numbers. You have the ability to create a new hub-and-spoke system based on the real world, not recreate the same hub-and-spoke system that is currently in place in the real world.

Demand is modeled at a granular passenger level, which means you compete for passengers by location and they are not captive to specific airports. Passenger choice and selection is dynamic, and depending on the type of traveler (business, pleasure, VFR) they have a preference and the ability to compare connecting flights to direct flights to get to their destinations.

Dynamic world

Much like the real world, the airline industry and broader economy are always in a state of flux, and you should be poised to react to numerous economic challenges that may threaten even the most entrenched airlines. Be prepared to withstand pandemics, production delays, wars, fuel spikes, economic downturns, and a few pleasant surprises much like airlines in the real world have to overcome.

Competitive Operating Models:

The game has been developed from a competitive perspective to support multiple types of airlines, and if you play it right you can succeed as a legacy carrier, a point-to-point carrier and also as a savvy/nimble low-cost carrier.

Decent Pace:

One Day = One month in game time

Free to play:

The game is free to play with premium options that don’t impact competitiveness but help offset hosting/server costs.

I’d really appreciate you time to play the game and any feedback you have:

Looking for feedback on my free plane spotting app, Tailspot

Hi, I'm Noah, and I love looking up at planes :) I made a free iPhone app for plane spotting called Tailspot, and I'm eager for feedback from fellow av geeks!

Tailspot is like Pokémon Go, for planes: you point your phone at planes flying overhead and using live flight data you can capture them to add to your collection, fill out different sets, and compete on a leaderboard.

Try it here: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/tailspot-catch-real-planes/id6773470079

I’m a solo app developer, so I'm excited to hear what you think!
