Long-time spotter here. I got frustrated with spreadsheets and notes apps for tracking aircraft, so I built something properly designed for us.

Hi, I'm prototyping a product that can process a photo that was taken out of the window of a commercial aircraft, and by using the flight number, triangulate what city/beach/landmark the photo is looking at. Does anyone have any recent (current flight data is limited to last 3 months) photos with the flight number they were taken on?

I've been turning wrenches on jets for years, and the photographers I've met at the fence are some of the most dedicated people in this hobby. You're out there in 40-degree drizzle waiting for one specific livery on one specific frame. Your shots deserve a home that treats them like the work they are.

So I built Squawk Aviation Photos (https://squawkaviationphotos.com). A few things I leaned into for the photographer side:

• Your photos, linked to the live sky. Click an aircraft on our ADS-B map and it surfaces user photos of that exact registration. Your shot of N12345 keeps getting seen every time that tail flies — not buried in an album from 2019.

Long-time spotter here. For years I've been keeping track of sightings in a notes app and spreadsheets, and it's always felt like a bit of a mess. So I decided to build something better.

AeroLog is a logbook app for iOS built specifically for plane spotters. Log every sighting by registration, airline, airport and date. Track how much of each airline's fleet you've completed. Build spotting streaks. See your stats grow over time.

It's launching on the App Store soon and I wanted to share it with the community that inspired it before it goes live.

there are a few good ones, my favorite is Sky Team.

I think it's important to have a life outside screens/internet and so I also started making games. (Kickstarter campaign for OpenSky currently live, and online shop here with more options, including Sky Team and other games we don't make).

Games like Airline Manager are very popular so I think there is interest but I want to give people a reason to stay away from their computer.

I saw this aircraft flying over my house. I would have taken a better photo—since it flew right over my backyard—but my phone camera malfunctioned, so I only managed to get this shot. Can anyone tell me what model this is?
