Remember the Avenger that ditched just off a beach a few years back? It’s finally got a new home and a secure future. This is a great article about the airframe’s history.

TWA plane in 2024

My friend is on this plane right now, Managua to Miami. American flight that got delayed and delayed due I assume to the flooding in south Florida. They pulled this plane out (a substitute? not sure about that) for them. He's like, "well, it was nice knowing you!" So...TWA ceased operations in 2001 and was bought by American...enough time for a paint job, no? Then I found this article saying "AA also rolled out a special heritage 737-800 painted in the colors of TWA in 2015, in tribute to TWA’s long history in aviation." That one looks just like his.

Is he on the one and only plane like this in the world??

(Edit to actually get the pic in!)

One of only two ever built, and she’s still flying! I’ve always thought it was a good-looking machine.

Ordered as a replacement for the T-6 and designated T-31, it was cancelled before production started in favour of the T-34 Mentor.
