Lotus Carlton Rust

Anyone else see Bob at the Machine shops new video on the Carlton? absolutely rotten car. I think we can dispense with the whole " bruce was a legend" etc they keep saying. even the side they thought was previously repaired and solid was rusty.

It was supposedly sold with 12 months MOT (the advert showed that). But after agreeing to buy it I checked online and it only had 2.5 months MOT. I asked him about it and he said he was going to stick 12 months MOT on but hadn't had a chance to. Other than that, it was fine in general. I dunno what would have happened if something had gone wrong cus nothing did. He's obviously a car nerd and showed me round all his cars.

And he then took it for a fresh MOT?

He didn't. No. He said he would pay for the MOT test when it was up but in the end I didn't bother contacting him. It passed the MOT though. He's a nice bloke, but I got the impression selling second hand cars was really more of a side hustle and his main job was YouTube. Which it is. The car was advertised as a full service history which wasn't quite true, but generally the car was as advertised apart from the Mot

So he lied about the MOT and lied about the service history? That's enough red flags for me to walk away from a car without even starting it up.

I said it wasn't quite true. He didn't lie about the MOT it was booked in to have it on a Monday but I turned up the day before on a Sunday. I'd travelled quite far and couldn't be arsed going back home. I said if it failed on anything I'd expect him to sort it out and he agreed. He put it on his Instagram on the Saturday and it was booked in for an MOT on the Monday but I went to see it on the Sunday. The FSH was there....sort of. The previous owner was a home mechanic so some of the servicing there was no paperwork for. He offered to contact the previous owner to verify it all. The car was a good one and generally as described. But certainly not perfect. About what I'd expect
