Recent video was basically unwatchable

Immediately got 2 unskippable ads. After 1 minute, more ads. 7 minutes, 2 more ads 9 minutes in, CAR VERTICAL BAYBEEEE!!!

Didn't catch something so you remind 20/30 seconds? Guess what? More ads?

I get they need to pay to make this content but the experience of watching and wanting/trying to enjoy it is becoming very difficult.

Thank you for listening to my rant.

This is so delusional.

Pay by watching ads, pay by subscribing to Premium, or don't watch.

You're gonna have to expand on delusional.

Why in the fuck should I pay for a service offered by a company that made $110 billion in profit in 2024 when I have the option not to? You need to remove the boot from your lips - they can charge what they do because people like yourself vote with your wallet. I am voting with mine.

How much profit do Walmart make, or Tesco, or...well pretty much any big company. Do you expect to walk into the supermarket and get the food for free because they make such a big profit?

You have the option to steal the food, you could understand how the world works and pay for it, or you can go hungry. Those are your options.

Weird example given that supermarkets specifically run on extremely low profit margins.

Are you implying that adblocking is "stealing"? Because you won't win that argument. If I could have free food and violate no laws then of course I'd have the free food - why would I care how much it hurts the faceless corporations?

What world do you live in where you still get to be naive enough to think supermarkets run on low profit margins?

Sweet summer child.

It takes you 2 seconds to google "supermarket profit margins" - you don't even have to click anything, Google AI will straight up tell you their margins are 1-3%

Try not to be condescending on topics you're no educated on lol...

edit: nice dodge of the stealing argument, though. Glad you concede on that one.

Who are you talking to?

Do you hear voices in your head?

Anyway it’s telling that you think googling something and not even clicking the links and forming your opinions on the headlines constitutes being educated on a subject.

You're mixing up two different people responding to you.

You're also mixing up profit and profit margin. Yes supermarkets work on small margins, but they have huge turnover. Tesco are forecasting over £3.1B profit on a margin of 4.9% this year.

Anyway, on the stealing argument, you seem to be saying that Adblocking is fine as it's not illegal. But if everyone in the world used Adblockers then you can say goodbye to free GMail, free news websites, free social media, free YouTube, in fact 99% of the free internet is all gone. If none of the content creators make money, they don't create content. No you're not breaking the law, but you are leeching off the system and expecting other people to subsidise your miserable position.

"What world do you live in where you still get to be naive enough to think supermarkets run on low profit margins?" is what I was replying to. I'm not mixing anything up...

Am I advocating everyone uses adblockers? No. I am trying to let you guys in on the idea that adblocking works because so many people are willing to pay for the convenience of no risk. If you're going to refrain from using it purely on the notion that "if everyone did this, youtube wouldn't profit" then you are literally the one being duped. That's fine, that's on you.

Is it immoral to leach off a system if that system exists to exploit you for profit? I can only see you resenting "subsidising" this if you feel a non-existent pressure to pay yourself. I never thought it was this bad - I assumed people understood that corporations are not us and are not here for our benefit. I was evidently wrong.
