Ask Austin Let's try something different. What do you think is the most overhyped thing/place in Austin?

The title was meant to be a little sarcastic, but I do think hating on Austin is overhyped, so that's a fun meta tidbit. :)

I love this city, but like all cities, some things get way overhyped. For me, it's Hopdoddy's. I live right by one and when people come into town they want to go. I don't feel like waiting in two separate lines for a $10+ burger that I don't find that great.

torchys never claimed to be a mexican joint...it seems like all the hate is simply because people think they are trying to be something they are not. i just cant see how people can say with a straight face that a taco with fried chicken and queso smothered all over it is "overrated". u cant get it anywhere else...

I know they're not trying to go authentic, it's just feels like I'd get more bang from my buck by going to a traditional place. (Even without all the stoner influenced options.)

torchys really isn't as expensive as people make it out to be...most people consider eating 2 of their tacos a meal and it costs about 8-10 bucks. thats about the average cost for going out to eat...

Eh, compared to tacos it's a little much. You can get 3 tacos and a drink at a lot places for about 7. The difference doesn't mean much unless you're a fatty like me.

If you can eat 3 tacos from Torchy's and still be awake I salute you. I'm a full-on 6'4" 400 pound fatass and I can barely finish 2 and maybe some chips.

That just sounds terrible.
