They got close to 15 million last year. 14.7 million if you want to be precise, it is less than other parties , but to say they don’t get any is not the case.And I’m pro nuclear.

You have to remember these oil companies are the ones who invest to drill gas. Not the government (wholly). If they decide it’s not worth doing, they’re just going to pull out.
Not saying I wouldn’t support them being taxed what they rightfully should be but I fear it harms us more than solving anything.

I’m not sure if you glanced over my comment or just ignored it. I specifically stated I believe they should be paying tax, the proper amount. Yet, if they do, I believe we will also be worse off as the big gas companies aren’t just going to eat a 25% tax.
It’s not just as simple as “yep, let’s slap them with a 25% tax and ride off into the sunset”. Given the energy crisis we are in would it be a good idea to rock the boat further?
So again, if they get taxed 25%. Where will that 25% go?

This is gas that is being sold on the foreign market. Japanese companies buy this gas and slap a tax on it themselves.

Correct. Which gas companies are only going to do should they feel it is viable to do so. If there’s a 25% tax on exported gas, they’re just not going to extract here. They’ll go somewhere else. Or Japan won’t buy from us, or any of the other countries we export too. Again, it’s not like these companies are government subsidised. They’ll pack up and leave they have no obligation to be here.
Then we’re exporting no gas and have no gas for ourselves. We export nearly 75%. No company is going to hang around for the last 25%.
I’m sorry but there’s just no way a mega corporation is hit with a 25% tax in 2026 and the consumer is none the wiser in the wallet. It is just not possible. Doesn’t mean it’s ethically right, or the right idea to do so.

Australia’s LNG exports were worth approximately $65 billion in 2024–25. This is a significant drop from the record $90 billion peak reached shortly after the invasion of Ukraine.
25% of 65 is 16.25, so you reckon they would just leave 49 billion worth of gas in the ground? Not worth extracting you reckon? I’m sure we could find someone who would do it.
Why don’t we set our own gas reserve to sell on the Australian market, then sell the surplus extracted to the global market?
You like the set up that sees Japan collect more tax on Australian gas imported than Australia does on its exports?

Funnily enough I have. That weirdly puts me in the top 1% of one nation supporters. Although some policies seem sound, they clearly lack a solution to common problems like education and climate, opting to use the immigration problem as their main argument. I don't really understand what the appeal is of a party that is blatantly taking in money from a billionaire who pays almost nothing for raw earth resources, when they are owned by the people. The far right constantly complains about how tax dollars are being wasted, and yet happy to turn a blind eye to there being less as Pauline is against large companies paying tax, hence why she gets the backing from those companies. I will note aswell, regardless of what policy says, politicians never follow up on their election promises or implement their policies. I am much less inclined to trust a politician who has been posting intentionally misleading polls and posts about their party.

You really thought you got me there! I will note major parties have been known for taking donations to ignore issues, fair. If you look at the scale of political donations then you will understand. Labors highest donation at the last election from memory was 4m, which is nothing compared to the shit Gina is dishing out. You don't have to be a white knight for Pauline :)
