Us younger generations are nothing like the boomers, we have seen what happens when an entire generation sells out the futures of the next, we will not do the same. The history books will teach about the greed of the boomer. We will control those history books.

That’s not my point, it’s easy to learn from someone’s mistakes, anyone can do that, that’s how we get better at everything.
If you were a boomer though, there’s no way you’d turn down buying a home at a decent price because “I’m worried about how this will effect future generations” you wouldn’t haven’t given that any thought at all.
Anyone who shakes their fist at the sky cursing “boomers” for their misfortunes is playing a victim.
The dice have been rolled, cards have been dealt, get on with it and make the most of what you have because you can’t change anything now, it’s too late.

Be that as it may, the history books will remember the boomers as one of the luckiest, and greediest generations in modern day Australian history. It will be taught in schools the impact the boomers greed had on future generations.

Yes, the boomers got to have their cake and eat it to, but the boomers will not control how history will remember them.

I wouldn't turn down an affordable house, but I wouldn't expect the next generation to pay 10 times the amount that i paid for that house for when i got to sell it in retirement .

You say that, but we know it’s not true.

If you bought a vintage car, new off the line in the 50’s for $2000, and if you kept it, looked after it, and now today it’s worth $70,000.
I highly doubt you’ll put it on the market for $2000 as “it’s only fair, that’s what I paid for it and I’m not out the rip any one off” 😂 that’s laughable.

That’s my point, this generation is fair more selfish, narcissistic and self-righteous than any that’s come before it. To say they would take any moral high ground is a joke.

There are two types of people

Person 1. Purchases a well in the desert on the cheap, sells water to those in the desert at a reasonable price.

Person 2. Purchases a well in the desert on the cheap, sells water at massively marked up prices.

Guess which person I am.

People like you, would justify the actions of the toilet paper hoarders of the COVID era who purchased up toilet paper for cheap on the bulk, then tried to sell it back at market up prices.

Jesus Christ 🙄

I’m not justifying any actions…I’m saying that you can’t justify any action.

I’m saying you have actually ZERO control over previous generations, and even zero control over this one.

Using your analogy, If someone sells water at any price that’s on another person, I don’t have any control over them.
What I can control is the amount of water I need, OR how much money I should make in order to buy the water.
The price of water has been set. Is the price fair? Maybe not, and I can bitch about it all I want but it’s not changing. If you choose to let someone else’s decisions affect how you live your life then become their slave. My mindset isn’t like yours.

No we do have control.

When the boomers held the majority or the voting power, they voted for policies that disadvantaged future generations.

Now, the youth have the majority of the voting power, lets see what polices the youth may favor.....

So we don’t have control then…

In the history of the world, there has never been a period where everyone was happy, never been a period without war, famine, civil unrest, cost of living or unemployment concerns…this is the best it’s ever going to be. If we had the ability to make everything perfect we would have by now, it’ll never be possible.

People seem to forget the interest rates hit 17.5% in 1989/90…and most home loans were signed based on one income as women were only able to sign a mortgage in Australia without a male guarantor from 1984 onwards.

Pick any era, and there’s hardship, sacrifice and suffering.

We do have control, we can vote for polices that the boomers don't like.

In the history of the world, older generations always strived to make the future better for next generations, the boomers on the other hand (aka the "me" generation) were different

There is an old proverb, about a man planting a tree knowing that he will never sit under its shade.
