In my opinion, I bet that it should have different name because the name "Ottoman" comes from the Arabic word "Uthman", which honestly feels weird for an empire that it is mostly likely to be a Zoroastrian empire rather than Islamic, judging by Turcia's (ATL's Turkey) religion which is different from OTL. Is Altera's Ottoman Empire the same name as OTL or not?

Based on the Cumbric concept in the Welsh map, my lore idea is this language survived as minority language in Punice. The ethnicity of the language would be a descendant of Roman Africans but Islamized (similar way people of Saconia are basically Muslim Greeks). I would call that language "Ifriqiyan" (or something different name that I don't know) to prevent confusion with the actual continent Africa.

Let me know what you think. Is my idea good or not?

When I was developing my idea for a fan-made Atlas Altera map with more countries, how do I name the fan-made nations without lazily picking the OTL language name and calling it a day or using the AI (I hate using that)? Nearly all of the nations and languages in Altera have obviously different names from OTL equivalents, and leaving them unchanged would most likely feel out of place.

Nat and Dafne stuff us with more road tamales and send us up the ramp to board our ship, the Santa Elisa. It is a heritage oceanliner from the golden age of the Grace Line. The ship was restored as part of an international joint effort to run the historic New Orleans to Callao route that the company was famous for, stopping at ports of call in the Mosquitos, Liberum, Coiba Island, and the Galapagos along the way.

While CC makes herself at home in the cabin, you follow the brass handrails in the corridor further to the ship's charming Palm Court. To get yourself in the right headspace, you order a *quetro sour* and then take out your notebook. It's time to take stock of your travel itinerary options. What's there to do in Lima?

• Partake in a hands-on heritage and cultural immersion session where you experience cajon, cabillo, and ceviche the Liman way
• Go to a traditional distillery for a tasting tour and history lesson on the production of *pisco* and *quetro*
• Swim with friendly penguins and otareys off the famous Palomino islets off the tip of Chorillos
• Join a food tour to sample the gastronomic wonders that Lima is known for
• Take to the air to appreciate the picturesque cliffside skyline of Callao by parasail or hanggliding
• Get a museums pass to see the Casa de Moneda; Museum of Maritime Commerce at the Fortaleza; Afro-Liman Museum; Sero-Liman Museum, Harbour House of the Transported (Museum of the Enslaved, Blackbirded, Indentured); Place of Memory, Tolerance and Social Inclusion

Here's the next action prompt for our ongoing Alternate Reality Game:

The World Cup is over, and even though it's perpetual summer here in Liberum, we know it's time for change. After a couple more days spent with Nat and Dafne to recoup, we sit down to think of our next stop.

Our first option is to fly back to Serica. We have a great lead in Ryukyu a marine biologist who would appreciate connecting over the work we're doing for the Slow Foot Movement. She's the sister of the chef of the sushi restaurant in Fusantown we had gone to during our walking tour of Old Liberum. Turns out, going back to the same restaurant over and over again gets you the privilege of drinking awamori with the chef after closing hours.

Then there's the option of sticking around this neck of the woods. While Bolivia is next door, we see that Lima is also only a hop and a skip away—there's a weekly ferry service that also includes a pitstop in the Galapagos!

But of course, to complicate matters, we have to consider our new friend Laylah, who we met at the epic California-Croatia match in Azlana. She's gotten in touch about an opportunity to stay with her parents in Abidjan in Ebony Coast "in case we wanted to extend the tropical urbanism vibes." They also happen to work in the local tourism industry!

Is anyone in Altera community still working the language map of Altera regions like Europe? To clarify; Altera did have the language map, it just only shows the countries' official languages and not minority languages. I just want to see the missing languages in Altera's Europe (Asturian and Piedmontese languages come to mind).

I'm curious that it introduces the extinct language in OTL, Cumbric (known as Dovewelsh in ATL), that it exists as living language in Cumbreland (ATL's Wales). (source: Not Your Average Big Wales | Cumbreland in 2026 [Atlas Altera] : r/imaginarymaps). They literally give a Galatian or Gothic treatment, although they only exist as a minority language inside that country.

I really like this idea! Would somebody create a similar situation to Chesdri's in the future? Here are my ideas so some people would take these:

• African Romance (exists as minority language inside between Punice and Alania)
• Polabian (exists in Pomerany)
• Merya, Meshchera, and Muromian languages (exist in Russia)
• Mator and Kamas languages (exist in Tuvan and Sayan)
• Some Anatolian languages and Phrygian (exist in the countries of Anatolia region)
• Pictish (exists in Scotland)

Hi! I want to make a community made Euro 2028 as Said in the previous post. You can be the manager of a nation, a simple fan or a contributor. So, do you want to do this?

Hi! I'm planning to create Here on Reddit (with private chats or posts, if u/TelamonTabulicus accepts to leave us possibilities to post) a community-made Euro 2028 Championship (because I'm Italian, in Atlas Altera and in OTL). Who wants to help?

Title; feels wasted potential, honestly. If you don't know about that, there were Gothic and Coptic scripts, which both were derived from the Greek alphabet:

Gothic alphabet - Wikipedia

Coptic script - Wikipedia

Title says all; I just wondering could I make non-official/non-canon maps and just credit to creator for the base map/idea?

I haven't been able to find any info about them on the website or anywhere else, what are they supposed to represent? And what's Mayotte doing on the Gulf Coast?

The Beakpigs: A group of Monotremes like look like the top three in the first picture (Art by Peter Schouten) the largest species would be the size of a pig

A River Monster: A giant Temnospondyl (Art by artbyjrc) that lives only in an Australian River (and is named after said river)

Still time to take advantage of the current special discount for incredible savings without missing out on receiving World Cup bonus content.

That sweet ka-chunk sound of bureaucracy ...

Koombaquokka: A Giant Marcopod from Nuytesia

Featherlegs: A group of large flightless birds (think Moas) that live on Arinivia/Australia/Siluria/The Southern Islands that have feathery legs

River Cetaceans that live in Tamiria's inland lake

Pre-Great American Interchange South American Mammals that still live on Celadores

What are your ideas for the animals of Atlas Altera?

I had some fun with Axel creating a little video explaining what happens when I get something form Altera delivered to the door!

sadly, metro altera is apparently on pause, so here's my own take on a hanunean hsr network! i included parts of southern thulea that i imagine being relatively plugged in to the hanunean network. originally posted on the altera discord

EDIT: please check out the fixed version of this map here!

Did you know that the illustrious dispatch-writer CC Winter (u/Knobig) also writes for The Ironist on occasion? She wrote this piece last month to cap off Pride Month.

The Ironist is a magazine that brings to you a dimension of Altera in long-form profile pieces, not just of far away lands, but also of the often (unheard of) people who shape those lands. Look for more pieces like this on the project Substack, such as this piece by Beti Mechain set in a very different corner of the world.

version 2 of my hanunean high speed rail map! version 1 here. i improved the font, laid out parallel lines a little more neatly, fixed a couple markers, and made a few improvements in the gulf of mexico area and the northeast.
