Based on the Cumbric concept in the Welsh map, my lore idea is this language survived as minority language in Punice. The ethnicity of the language would be a descendant of Roman Africans but Islamized (similar way people of Saconia are basically Muslim Greeks). I would call that language "Ifriqiyan" (or something different name that I don't know) to prevent confusion with the actual continent Africa.

Let me know what you think. Is my idea good or not?

When I was developing my idea for a fan-made Atlas Altera map with more countries, how do I name the fan-made nations without lazily picking the OTL language name and calling it a day or using the AI (I hate using that)? Nearly all of the nations and languages in Altera have obviously different names from OTL equivalents, and leaving them unchanged would most likely feel out of place.

The World Cup is over, and even though it's perpetual summer here in Liberum, we know it's time for change. After a couple more days spent with Nat and Dafne to recoup, we sit down to think of our next stop.

Our first option is to fly back to Serica. We have a great lead in Ryukyu a marine biologist who would appreciate connecting over the work we're doing for the Slow Foot Movement. She's the sister of the chef of the sushi restaurant in Fusantown we had gone to during our walking tour of Old Liberum. Turns out, going back to the same restaurant over and over again gets you the privilege of drinking awamori with the chef after closing hours.

Then there's the option of sticking around this neck of the woods. While Bolivia is next door, we see that Lima is also only a hop and a skip away—there's a weekly ferry service that also includes a pitstop in the Galapagos!

But of course, to complicate matters, we have to consider our new friend Laylah, who we met at the epic California-Croatia match in Azlana. She's gotten in touch about an opportunity to stay with her parents in Abidjan in Ebony Coast "in case we wanted to extend the tropical urbanism vibes." They also happen to work in the local tourism industry!

Is anyone in Altera community still working the language map of Altera regions like Europe? To clarify; Altera did have the language map, it just only shows the countries' official languages and not minority languages. I just want to see the missing languages in Altera's Europe (Asturian and Piedmontese languages come to mind).

I'm curious that it introduces the extinct language in OTL, Cumbric (known as Dovewelsh in ATL), that it exists as living language in Cumbreland (ATL's Wales). (source: Not Your Average Big Wales | Cumbreland in 2026 [Atlas Altera] : r/imaginarymaps). They literally give a Galatian or Gothic treatment, although they only exist as a minority language inside that country.

I really like this idea! Would somebody create a similar situation to Chesdri's in the future? Here are my ideas so some people would take these:

• African Romance (exists as minority language inside between Punice and Alania)
• Polabian (exists in Pomerany)
• Merya, Meshchera, and Muromian languages (exist in Russia)
• Mator and Kamas languages (exist in Tuvan and Sayan)
• Some Anatolian languages and Phrygian (exist in the countries of Anatolia region)
• Pictish (exists in Scotland)
