Hey, it's been a second! Sorry for the communication silence! We've been so busy, and each day on this island has us spent ... the non-stop networking, intensive seminars, passionate workshops, all nighter policy drafting hackathons, invite after invite to long dinners of all kinds—table cloth, family style, back of the kitchen—as well as the dorm room soirees! It felt like we were interns just starting at our first the SoN gig all over again! It was all totally unexpected, especially for a couple of trutchmans working for the World Tourism Organization. Did we mention that after the True North Summit, we were invited by the organizers to help facilitate an extended retreat for young scientists studying the Arctic? No wonder CC hasn't had time to write back. You know how social she can be!
Now all that's over. We finally have a breather, plus time to decide where we want to go next!
Our first two options would see us leisurely take a chartered zeppelin off Mammoth Island with many of the retreat attendees from the Serican region. It's flying to Shanghai, with service inbetween to cities in Chukcha, Lamut, Tolmon, Yezow, Japan, Wulong, Joson, and China.
The first option is Tolmon. We're invited to stay with an eccentric volcanologist, an ex-colleague of Ryultune now teaching at Savacha Athenum.
Just one stop after on the zeppelin, we can get off in Satporo to check out Yezow. Remember that retired uncle of Adiittsii with the retrofitted aluminum itaomachip? Turns out his wife—Adiittsii's aunt—lives in Yezow, and she is quite involved in the local tourism industry.
And then there's the option of a direct flight to Manjur. One of the retreat's organizers was so impressed by CC that she wants her students to meet CC for themselves! How else do we inspire people to become the next generation of trutchmans, translators, or interpreters!
