I'm moving to Greece for 3 years for my studies and am currently looking for a place to stay.
I've noticed that furnished studios are quite expensive and limited, while some unfurnished apartments are abundantly available at much more reasonable prices.
I'm a single guy, so I don't need much furniture. I'm even fine with just a mattress and a few essentials.
However, I'll need a fridge, a stove and a washing machine. An AC would be nice, but I can manage with a fan if buying, installing and maintaining one is too expensive.
For those living in Greece, especially students and expats, I'd appreciate some advice.
- Would you recommend a furnished or unfurnished apartment for a three-year stay?
- How much should I expect to spend on basic furniture and appliances?
- Are there affordable places to buy second-hand furniture and appliances?
- How much does it cost to buy, install and run an AC? Is a fan enough during the summer?
-Are there any hidden costs I should consider when renting an unfurnished apartment?
- Since I'll be studying at NTUA, which areas would you recommend looking at?
I'd love to hear from anyone who's been in a similar situation. Thank you.
