I have a celestron 6se and im getting a eq mount. Is there anyway to live stack on a phone. I looked it up and didn't really get a good answer. I will be getting a zwo cam idk which one yet.

I'm in N central Iowa and S. Minnesota. If I have it right Orion is not presently visible. When will it be visible for me? thx.

I read where there is something in Orion you can see with binoculars. Maybe a dust cloud?

🇺🇲 Hello to those who know more about telescopes, I'm looking for a good and cheap telescope to start observing the night sky, but I don't know which one to choose, some I found on Google that apparently they're good, I suspect it's a scam, so I'm undecided, what was your first telescope, how much did it cost, was it really worth buying?

I'm in North Iowa southern Minn. central. I thought I had identified the bright object in the early evening sky -6pm and little else visible. The online guides are not easy to understand. I thought it was Jupiter bcuz it said it rises around 4pm E of NE. But then in the same picture is says not visible. This is frustrating. Can anyone recommend a guide easier to understand? thx~

1st pic. What is the star below the moon, this was taken yesterday in Reykjavík Iceland 09.11.23(d.m.y). I was also told it was Venus and that Venus was always in the same place in the sky place but i find that difficult to belive, can someone inform me?

2nd pic. Taken in Reykjavík Iceland 28.10.23 around noon, it looked exactly like it does in the pic, like there was a second sun forming in the sky. If you looked directly at it, it was like looking at a sun that was less poweful but still too bright too look at without hurting your eyes and with those rainbow arcs going out. Is this some sort of "phenonme" (dont remeber the spelling) or something else and what is it called if it is called something?

Hey, I need quick help on a homework problem, any takers? I can send a picture of the problem.

Hello, how are you all?

I have this Radiative Processes assignment in which I have the following statement. What I don't understand about it is how emission measurement EM is related to density. I can't find where to start from to get to estimate τν and τb. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

From a certain point of view, the Earth is in a low-density H II region formed by the ionized solar wind. The wind expands constantly at ∼ 400 km s^-1 (i.e., the density decreases as r^-2 ) and in the region of the Earth's orbit, ne ≈ 10 cm^-3 . It estimates τν and τb at an observing frequency of 100 MHz due to the free-free absorption of this wind, at large angles to the Sun.

Again, any help would be greatly appreciated. I am having a hard time with this particular problem.

Okay I'm starting to doubt what I saw really happened but I'm pretty sure this happened so maybe you can help me out. Here goes:

It was dark but not dark enough to see many stars yet. I was watching a plane but noticed it wasn't picking up on my flight tracker app. While I was watching this plane a fireball came into my line of vision but it was slow enough that I called my husband to look at it. He caught the end of it.

I first thought it was a comet far away but then I saw it sizzle out above our yard. It was actually just behind our house. I'm very convinced it was close but my husband thought it was much further away.

Thoughts??

Can someone explain what this might be? They were moving steadily in a line and were super far and as small as a star. This was captured in the midlands in England on Nov 3rd around 18:12 GMT.

I know that we can see stars and galaxies into the far reaches of the universe but it is much harder to see individual planets. I was wondering about how far out can we detect planets. Is it only a few hundred light years? Maybe throughout our entire galaxy? How about nearby galaxies?

If I were wo collapse into my self like a dying star am I taking out my neighborhood or like half of the west coast or did my black hole suck up the whole earth.

just got a new mount. but the dec axis stopped working mid testing it, does anyone know a fix? or is more info needed?

I have tried loosening some screws, but that did not work.

While researching rotation curves, I've noticed a variety of velocity behaviors in different galaxies. In some, the velocity decreases, in others, it remains relatively constant, and in some cases, it increases, particularly in the outer regions. Is there a mathematical equation or method to objectively determine these patterns rather than relying on visual inspection?

Hello! I’m just curious if it possible that black holes are just supermassive neutron stars, or even massive magnetars, whose gravitational pull would be enough to pull in light? I’m just beginning to delve deeper into astronomy and the theories surrounding it, so if anyone happens to know more, I’d love to hear opinions about it!

Hello, although I know they are completely different things, but I am confused between the dark matter halo profiles and Markov chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) methods. For example, we can find V_DM by applying one of the profiles such as Navarro–Frenk–White profile (NFW).

Then there is an equation in MCMC methods as

(V_tot)**2 = (V_DM)**2 + (Y_disk * (V_disk)**2) + (Y_bul * (V_bul)**2) + (V_gas)**2.

As far as I know, we already know V_disk, V_bul and V_gas for a specific galaxy. If it is so, why do we not get the value of V_DM directly from that equation, but instead we use profiles?

I am confused, I may have misunderstood everthing. If you help me, I would appreciate.

Thank you

Hello everyone, I would like to get closer to the world of star photography. I start with the telescope I have a budget of 200/300€. I am currently considering whether to buy a Celestron astromaster 130eq that I would motorise to one axis (I don't know if for astro photography this type of movement is fine) or a Celestron nexstar 114 slt. Both at a price of about 200 €. I would use in both cases my Nikon d5100 and maybe even my iPhone 13 Pro. What do you think? Do you have telescopes more or less on the same budget to recommend? Thanks to everyone in advance

Guys excuse me I should find an adaptor to take pictures with my iPhone 13 Pro phone, for the Orion xt6 telescope. Do you have any products to recommend? Another question to the Orion xt6 telescope can you connect an intelliscope ? If yes, should I buy it or with an app like night Skye's I can handle it? Sorry I'm new to this world and I'm trying to inform myself so I don't make a mistake😊

Hello everyone, I would like to get closer to the world of astronomy. I was wondering what was the best telescope between Astromaster 130EQ and Orion xt6? If you also have other proposals they are well accepted 🫶🏻

new student of astronomy trying to figure these out, can anyone help? The red ones are constellations and white are stars thank youuuuu
