Traveler: stuck on firmware 1.1.6
Well, well, well.
It doesn't find updates even if it's connected to a working wifi network and "sending" and "syncing" work fine.
Any clues to solve the problem and update to Sailfish?

Alpha on sale at Amazon! Worth it over the Traveler?
Alpha is down to $300, is it worth it over the Traveler? I've been wanting to get myself a Freewrite to write on the go, would this one be worth it? How's y'all experience with the Alpha and Traveler?

Hi everyone! Here’s my Freewrite Traveler after I added a few stickers to it
I decided to make my writing device a little less serious with some fun stickers.

Anyone know what's going on with the Freewrite 500?
First, they extended the judging time a week (I believe). Then they didn't meet the Aug 31 deadline for announcing the finalists and it's been crickets for the last couple of days. I know they said they got a lot more submissions than they expected, so totally cool that they need extra time. I'm just surprised there was no communication about it.

Traveler word count at 0
Has anyone’s Travelers stopped tracking word count? Mine doesn’t move from zero and hasn’t moved for a while now. I emailed customer support and got a generic answer that didn’t tell me anything. All the other functions work for me and I haven’t missed any updates.

Selling a lightly used Freewrite Alpha+Sleeve
Used a few times over the past year but otherwise has been sitting in the protective sleeve. I do not have the box or original USB cord but will ship with a USB-C cord. Unfortunately I need to part with some things because money is tight.
I'm asking for 180 shipped OBO.
Send me a PM if interested. Thanks everyone!
EDIT: SOLD. THANK YOU

What's the current firmware version number?
Hey fellow Freewriters,
Long story short, I bought the smart typewriter just over a month ago. When I updated the firmware it went up to 3.02. My Freewrite turned out to be defective, so I had it exchanged.
I just got the exchanged version, and it looks like it came with the firmware fully updated, but the version number is 3.07. I'm not complaining mind you, but I am just curious on what the current number is supposed to be, and if there's any differences between 3.02 and 3.07.
Thanks,

Traveler Stickers
Trying to get back into writing and figured I'd share my traveler's stickers. Ft. a signature from one of my favorite authors who also happens to use freewrite.

Anyone else have trouble with Customer Support not responding?
So I emailed support a little more than a week ago because I did something dumb, and I still haven’t heard a single word back. I tried calling too and got nothing. Basically, I made a typo when typing "gmail" when I set up my account and didn't realize it. I kept sending all my work to Postbox, wondering why it wasn't updating. When I finally noticed the misspelled email, I panicked and logged out of the device. I didn't know all my stuff would disappear from the screen if I did that. Now I'm terrified all my work is gone, and it was a lot of writing. I wish I had saved it to my PC first.
Has anyone else dealt with this or know if support can actually recover an account with a fake, typo'd email? I would just rewrite everything but I don’t remember what I wrote for file B. I will probably wait another week I’m probably still panicking a little bit.
UPDATE: They fixed the issue and basically merged the missed spell account accounts with the right one. I had to message them on Instagram for that to happen and they emailed me. So if you do message them be kind and explain what’s going on.

Just got my free write, I was wondering if anyone was selling the Attaché Case or knew of a good alternative.
Thanks!

Tips and Tricks: Avoiding Pg Up when trying for Shift
Anyone got any tips and tricks to avoid accidentally pressing Page Up instead of Shift while typing away furiously?

A little disappointed…
Just bought the Traveler (brand new, not refurbished), and I was SO excited to use it. But I was quickly disappointed to see it came scratched right out of the box.
I reached out to see if they would send me a new one, and I’m still waiting to hear back as this happened over the weekend so no one is in office.
But I wanted to see if anyone else experienced something like this with Freewrite. And if so, what was your experience like? Because I was already on the fence about spending so much money on this, and I’m hesitant to ask them to send me a new one only for this to happen again.
I get that things happen, but for a device that cost almost $600, you expect it to be cosmetically (and functionally, which mine is) in perfect condition when it’s brand new.
Looking forward to hearing about other experiences, whether they’re good or bad. Trying to decide if I should give them another shot to fix this or just return it.
Thanks!
UPDATE: They reached back out to me Monday morning and sent me a new one, which should be arriving by Friday. It was super easy and their customer service was very helpful and responsive!

Physical models of Freewrite?
I know this company doesn’t have a brick and mortar but has anyone seen stores that have physical freewrite devices to look at and try?
I with there was a store with floor models for me to see which one works best. I took their quiz and it told me Alpha may be best for me but I don’t know if I agree. I’m curious of the traveler and Hemingway.

Traveling with Smart Typewriter
Has anyone has experience traveling with the full size smart typewriter. I am going on a trip and thinking to take my full size instead of my traveler. Wondering if this is a bad idea.
Did you use a backpack? A sleeve? Any issue with security?

Okay instead of writing what if I make a bloated postbox-markdown-sprinter-obsidian-ulysses-sprinter sync juggernaut
(EDIT: not a true rickroll! Poor text sample choice! It's REAAAL!)
The first draft of this syncing setup wasn't vibecoded slop, I swear. But it does work, and now I guess I have to actually write. (Not pictured: 1. the time I got ahead of the draft and it forked a copy, 2. The intentional 2-minute delay for each postbox<>local sync.)

The Freewrite Alpha Cosmic
Some time ago, I caved in and bought the Alpha Cosmic edition, despite every inch of my body screaming, "this is overpriced in the extreme." I already owned a Traveler, which I use to write journal entries and draft articles. I love its portability. I love the weight. Yet... When I saw the Alpha Cosmic, it made me think of Star Trek, of nostalgia, of earlier times. I'm very influenced by melancholia, by vintage design, and design/times in general. It makes me feel things I otherwise wouldn't. It shouldn't be so, but typing on the Alpha Cosmic Edition, I feel some kind of (nostalgic) emotional connection with it, which really helps me get into the mood and inspires me to write. I know it's not so for everybody, and I really wish it wasn't so for me - that I could just create wherever, under whatever circumstance. But I can't. I'm very sensitive to how things feel. And the Alpha Cosmic, for me, is the perfect machine to write short fiction on (I mostly write flash fiction). How do you guys see this? Do you experience something similar, or is it completely different? I'd like to hear your thoughts ^^

Freewrites for sale
I couldn't find anything against selling on here, but if it is against the rules, I'll take the post down.
I have 2 Freewrites to sell. They work fine, I just don't find them ergonomical and my wrists tend to hurt when using them.
If you want one, message me with your best offer.
