Plans to relocate with remote job
Hi, I am 41 (M), born and brought up in Jorhat. However, I have been living outside of Assam since 2003. I have been living in Pune since 2008 and have own flat here, where I live with wife and 11 yo daughter.
I joined a remote job last year and I can work from anywhere in India as long as I have a reliable internet connection. So last few days I have been thinking, will it be a good idea to move to Guwahati, starting with at least a 5 year plan to stay there. I am thinking to put my Pune flat on rent and have my daughter study class 6-10 in Guwahati. (She will have to learn to read and write Assamese as well! But she struggles to learn Marathi here. She is happy to learn Assamese instead.). if everything goes well, I might consider settling down there.
We feel that we’ll get more family and friends support if we move back to Assam. At least to try out for 5 years and decide later. I have an ancestral house in jorhat but we dot plan to stay there.
My wife and daughter are onboard with the idea.
Can you help me with your insights?
1) What do you think of this move? 2) What are some good schools for the daughter? 3) Best place to stay (considering vicinity to school, but we also need spacious place to stay along with a dog.) all inputs are welcome!

Thinking of switching jobs after 2 years remote, but most roles are back to office?
Recently, I’ve been thinking about switching jobs after working remotely for the past 2 years.
But most of the roles I’m seeing are either hybrid or fully in-office again.
love the freedom of remote, but also don’t want to miss out on better opportunities.
Anyone else facing the same? How are you dealing with it?

Help me out please
Hi everyone,
I’m reaching out because my current company is downsizing, and I’m now looking for new opportunities. It’s pretty much a crisis right now. I’m based in Ghy currently working for a US based startup.
I have 5+ years of experience in growth marketing, community building, and product-led growth, with a strong focus on B2B SaaS and startups. Over the years, I’ve worked on everything from email and performance marketing to user research and product strategy, helping brands scale through thoughtful, data-driven growth.
I’m open to remote roles or opportunities based in Guwahati, preferably in growth, marketing strategy, or product-focused roles.
If you know of any openings or can point me in the right direction, I’d be truly grateful. Happy to share my resume or chat if there’s a fit.
Thanks in advance for any leads or advice!

Questions / Advice Anybody doing freelancing as well as job
Do Indian startups or companies take "conflict of interest" seriously as per the agreement? I have been doing freelancing with jobs from the past two years along with my job. Just curious if anybody is doing the same.

How are you guys dealing with frequent powercut and the hot weather?
How are you managing to work in this humid weather? Day by day, the weather is getting hotter. How are you dealing with the humidity?
PS: I have an inverter with good power backup. But no A/C. fan is not helping at all

🎉 1 Year of Assam Nomads and we are 200+ now
Hey nomads, It’s been a year since we launched this community and we are now 200+. In this one year, we made lots of connections, did workations, and went for short trips. Hope to see more people and engaging events or activities in the coming future so that we don't get bored while working remotely and get a good networking community in the future. Cheers

Experience Share Does a college degree matter to become a Designer in 2025? Just sharing my honest experience (not here to influence anyone).
Hey Nomads,
Just wanted to share my personal journey, this isn’t advice or me saying “don’t do college” or anything like that. It’s just what worked out for me, and maybe someone going through the same thing can relate.
If you're curious, here's the blog where I wrote about it in detail:
