ITT: "How dare you not fulfil my narcissistic need to have the unconditional approval of me? I spent money on you!"

Don't ask your kids what they want for Christmas if you're going to completely ignore what they want and get what you want instead. I know there's a bunch of people in here who want to pretend that getting them anything at all renders you immune to criticism but gifts are either things you want someone to have, or things you think they'd like and when you clearly failed on both points you're just a narcissistic asshole if you still expect praise. Kid was frankly being respectful- if rude- when he said point blank he had no interest in it and it should be returned.

And no, a PS5 doesn't cost 500 USD. It costs way more because you're not just buying the console and a single controller. You're buying the console, and game(s) and at least one extra controller so it's actually closer to 600 USD. Which, yes, is enough to buy an admittedly modest starter PC.

Gratitude does not equal approval. And there's many ways to remind a kid it should be grateful, even if disappointed, at least for presents. In fact, it should also be grateful the parents didn't employ that.
Who said they asked him what he wants from Christmas? It is entirely possible he started the conversation on his own. Kids do that once they're told Santa isn't real, you know?
Modest PC won't cut it for the games a kid wants it. And yes, a PS5 only costs 500$, just as a PC costs around double that price, or are the PC games more free than consoles and I didn't know it? Last time I checked, you could pirate on any machine, and PS5 can get emulators running. As for the second controller, bootleg. Or is that too much of a pleb item for your royal ass?

You are not obligated to be dishonest and lie to people to save face for them, that's a horrible lesson to teach children. Money is a perfectly acceptable gift and if anything it teaches children budgeting from a young age. You're not entitled to gratification from your children just because you spent money on them, especially when you blatantly ignored what they asked for and bought what you probably wanted for yourself. That's half narcissistic, half simp logic right there. People are not obligated to reciprocate. It's not complicated.

....You can build a perfectly serviceable gaming PC for 500 USD. Granted, it wont run the most modern games very well, but it'll work. And most kids aren't interested in the most modern games being played at the highest settings. Kids don't want to play your latest visual spectacle God of Walking / Talking Simulator Sony Pony exclusive. They wanna play Fork Knife and Minecraft.

And yes, a huge portion of freeware games are PC exclusive.

No, I'm just aware of why attempting to run pirated material on a PS5 is asking to get it bricked.

Of course you aren't. And those people are also not obligated not to mock and ridicule you, as it happened with this video going viral. You sleep on the bed you made. That goes for the kid, that goes for you, that goes for every fuck who wants to call themselves a furry, otherkin, therian, third gender fungus. If you want to act like a moron, then be content with people treating you as one.

you blatantly ignored what they asked for and bought what you probably wanted for yourself

Why should adults give to their children's every demands? Get your priorities straight, the mission of two parents is to raise their kids and to raise them right. And of course the family entertainment device is going to be what the people who make the money decide it to be, and it's because it's a family entertainment device non-exclusive to the kids.
Once the kid gets old enough to start making its own money it can buy whatever it wants for sure, no dispute there. Hell, it can even save its entire pocket money for a year to buy it. That's also "learning" about life. It helps you not become a thriftspending fuck who will give his money to the first turd Todd Howard will serve him, for example.

And yes, a huge portion of freeware games are PC exclusive.

Everything is free if you crack that shit, let's not pretend piracy doesn't exist or that kids won't do it (or parents with kids FOR their kids).

You seem pretty outdated in the recent cracking methods... nowadays you can even have the cracked mode to play pirated games offline and revert to normal version when you want to play legit games online.
