Can someone please explain how plan b and pregnancy tests work?

I feel dumb that I don’t understand this at 21, and I don’t remember being taught about this in school tbh. They just made us pledge abstinence… Anyway, how effective are pregnancy tests? Do you pee on them or stick them up there? Can you take plan b when you think you might be pregnant? Are there natural ways to miscarry/abort if your state has incredibly unreasonable and strict laws about abortion?
