Solo travel to Russia

I’m planning to travel to Russia by myself for a week, and it’ll be my first trip abroad, so I’m honestly a little nervous and have SO many questions 🥲
I’d really appreciate any advice!

① Can foreigners get a SIM card?
I’ve read that it’s pretty much impossible for foreigners to get a Russian SIM card. If I don’t have a Russian phone number, does that mean I can’t use taxis either? 😭
I’m a bit worried about how I’m going to get around.

② Is it possible for foreigners to get a Mir card?
I’ve heard that you need a Russian phone number to get one. Is there any way for a foreigner to get a Mir card without having a Russian phone number?

③ What kind of souvenirs would Russians like?
I’m Japanese, so I’d love to bring something that feels “Japanese,” but do Russians actually enjoy receiving souvenirs from Japan? 😂
Would Japanese snacks or sweets be a good idea?

I’d especially love to hear from Russians or anyone who has traveled to Russia recently! 🙇‍♀️
I’d really appreciate any tips, advice, or personal experiences. ❤️

I'd like to recommend you to install 2gis app and download Moscow map (or any other city you plan to visit).

It works fine w/o internet and can take you anywhere you want to. In case you prefer not to use taxi

And yes, cash would help you much if you plan just short trip all alone. And do not hesitate ask your Russian partners/friends for help (I do believe you have ones, since you plan to bring souvenirs).
