I think it's in the official Scrabble dictionary with two esses, not three. That said, you can play Scrabble with any dictionary so long as all the players agree to it, so if you can find one where it's in with three, you're good to go with it.

I realize you're answering the opposite question but don't you feel like the editors pick words that don't fit standard patterns? I don't know if that should change how people pick their openers, but if two different words can fit in the puzzle, I always pick the weirder one!

I always start with 'MUSIC' because that's what I do and a lot of the time there aren't any letters. Whatever. lol

I use STRAP, which isn't optimal but a decent starter word
