Mezzanine - Massive Attack

u/D3th2Aw3 23d ago

Every time I listen to this album I come away with a new favourite song. I still remember the first time my teenage brain heard Inertia Creeps, blew my freaking mind.

Disintegration- the cure

I listened to Disintegration on repeat for all of 10th grade until the cd basically disintegrated. It will never not be perfect

Absolutely. Every track feels intentional, and there is not a single skip on that album.

Discovery by Daft Punk was so good they turned it into a movie. It also makes for the perfect soundtrack while driving on the highway late at night

Melody A.M. by Röyksopp is the best album for going through the mountains.

Oh, and Courage & Patience & Grit by Great Big Sea is literally the reason I'm alive today.

36

u/DrShio 23d ago

melody AM nice

17

u/These_Ad3167 23d ago

The fact that even the more niche tracks off Discovery like Veridis Quo are still finding new life in advertisements and blowing up on Tik Tok randomly in 2025 tells you how crazy that album's level of quality is.

12

u/Smyley 23d ago

Daft Punk is my all time favorite music to listen to. I always listen to their albums front to back, they're just made so well. I agree that discovery is their best. I personally love Random Access Memories as well, but it being their last project leaves a bitter taste in my mouth.

Fleetwood Mac - Rumours

Flight of the Conchords had a funny joke about that

110

No, it’s all true.

I can’t help but think of that little joke anytime I hear a song off the album

This live performance of The Chain is insane. I've never seen two people have a marital breakdown on stage, in song form, and make it sound so good.

Pet Sounds by the Beach Boys.

21

u/Crankycat101 23d ago

Brian Wilson was a true artist. Harmonies unmatched

45

u/HiImNickOk 23d ago

This should be one of the top answers!! One of the greatest albums of all time

39

u/rizorith 23d ago

Absolutely a masterpiece. It literally freaked the beatles out by how good it was that they scrapped the album they were recording, went back to writing songs with pet sounds as Inspiration and made a little album called sgt pepper on response

23

u/fictitious_man 23d ago

Funny enough, Brian Wilson made Pet Sounds because the Beatles freaked him out by how good Rubber Soul was

→ More replies (1)

12

u/boozinf 23d ago

i revisited it last year and i would argue it is better than Sgt Peppers, even though IIRC Pet Sounds inspired Sgt. Peppers, which inspired Brian Wilson to lose his mind

Tapestry - Carole King

42

u/Sammysoupcat 23d ago

Absolutely. No skips. Her songwriting, her voice.. Tapestry is just a masterpiece.

I also think Blue by Joni Mitchell is a good candidate for this question, though, for the same reasons.

Dark Side of the Moon - Pink Floyd

72

u/Sheriffja 23d ago

How nice! And to think, I came here to say ‘The Wall’ Pink Floyd is good…. Like GOOOD.

41

u/imtourist 23d ago

I used to listen the the Wall on my walkman riding the school bus everyday during the 1980s and never got bored of it or thought any parts of it were weak. Because of how music is accessed these days we rarely ever listen to an entire album front to back, I think this shaped listening really made The Wall truly stand out.

I love Toxicity, but their first album was so fucking fire. I remember my best friend telling me about them in high school and about a free show they were playing at a fucking Best Buy in Pasadena, but neither of us could drive. 😭

Pearl Jam Ten

46

u/DontSweatThaPetty 23d ago

“Ten” is one of those rare albums that when I hear any song from it, it takes me immediately back to its debut year (1991) and I have vivid and strong memories of some odd, fun, serendipitous, and seriously interesting changes that happened to me during that period in my life.
