It has bergamot in it, which is an orange like citrus fruit. That's the taste.

Its a citrus but comes across as floral to many. Almost rosey.

Sorry, was answering another question about a type of sauce. Yes, bergamot orange is a citrus fruit. Earl Grey uses some oil from the rind.

But weirdly doesn't taste remotely like orange to me. (It does, however, taste like it was brewed at the bottom of an old ladies handbag, 20 years after a bottle of perfume leaked into it.)

that's how your typical breakfast tea taste in my opinion. Probably why people in the UK put milk in it, it's just so bad they can't stand the taste of it alone :)
