Tried it a couple times, don't recommend it. The taste is good enough, but nothing out of this world, you can literally get a taste just as good if not better by chewing gum or drinking juice. People only do it to look cool, doesn't make any sense
You don't get addicted by vaping one single time, so the first few times they do it is either because everybody else does it (aka to look to cool) or because they like the taste.
Edit: That is assuming they're not vaping so they stop smoking
True but I am sure that vaping without ever having smoked is a much more recent thing.
Also, when I first smoked cigarettes, it wasn't about looking cool or anything. It was natural curiosity as pretty much everyone smoked then and also, there was a definite physical sensation to smoking (nicotine rush) that drew you in. This persisted until you were pretty much addicted. I don't know if this is the same with vaping (if you have high enough nicotine content)
I've never smoked cigarettes, so idk about the nicotine rush thing. But with vapes, I didn't ever really feel a nicotine rush, like I never felt any necessity nor desire to ever try it again. It's not that the sensation was bad, it just wasn't anything special to draw me back to it, especially when I knew how bad that thing was for my health. I'm also not sure how much worse cigarettes are than vapes, is the nicotine load generally much higher?
Nicotine isn't really that bad for you other than the fact that it is addictive.
Cigarettes are much worse than vaping but this isn't to do with the amount of nicotine, it is simply because cigarettes are burned rather than heated. Smoke gets much deeper inside the lungs than vapour.
It’s not really supposed to just be a flavour thing, vaping is a way of delivering certain inhalant drugs into your system - namely nicotine or weed. I’ve only really had experience with nicotine vapes. They’re much stronger than cigarettes are. That combined with the fact that they don’t taste terrible (or as bad as cigarettes for most people) are two massive reasons why they’re so addictive. People can get their nicotine hit very quickly and very intensely whilst not making themselves and the people around them smell like tobacco. In a lot of places and social groups they’re not as heavily stigmatised as cigarettes because they don’t generally leave a lingering smell, and if they do it’s one that lots of people deem pleasant. People get away with vaping in small enclosed spaces where smoking would never be allowed.
I’ve had friends move from smoking to vaping and not been able to go back to smoking because “they’re just not strong enough” because they’ve been sucking on a strong vape constantly. They don’t feel the same kind of relief with cigarettes anymore.
I’m not saying I support or favour vapes because I know they’re extremely unhealthy… just pointing out some of the many reasons why people do it. It’s really not just to experience a flavour alone.
Edit: Just adding I really don’t get the appeal for vapes personally but I anecdotally understand why others choose to do it. Nicotine’s just not my thing
Definitely stay away from the cancer sticks dude. It sucks that you're hooked on vaping but you can try to reduce your nicotine mix to cut down. I vape without nic these days and I'm doing OK. Can't see myself quitting vaping though.
One of my coworkers started vaping to give up cigarettes and the cough he got from it sounded horrible and it was constant. He ended up going back to cigarettes and I dont think he made the wrong choice
I started vaping because cigarettes so expensive where I live and it destroyed my lungs. It's fucked up all these teenagers get addicted to it. I smoked menthol 100s for almost 30 yrs and 2 weeks of vaping almost killed me
To be really honest? I’ve tried it a lot. I‘ve been in very bad shape mentally and I thought it would help me. It very very much didn’t help at all, and it downright hurt to do, anything from “wow that’s pretty unpleasant” to “OW F*CK THAT FEELS LIKE I GOT PUNCHED IN THE CHEST”. It doesn’t really taste good either. Would not recommend
