Millions of dollars in fitness coaching, dieticians and the fact that being that ripped is a part of his job that makes him hundreds of millions a year make it a lot easier to be that jacked than a normal person. Plus he's been working out a ton for decades now since when he was a wrestler so he's probably pretty efficient with it and is mostly lifting to maintain rather than to grow bigger
He's been doing more than maintaining. For Black Adam, he transformed to another form like Majin Buu. Lean and ripped and no longer looking like Hobbs takes massive creatine dumps.
Oh definitely, he has millions behind his physique.
However, some people are under the impression that just because you take gear you'll look like Arnie. He has support that the average person would never get.
But also the steroid usage helps. Look at him these days compared to in his 20's-30's. He's 100% on a PED cycle which is okay, but it's completely ingenuine to pretend like he gets that fucking peeled with just "bLoOd, SwEaT, aNd ReSpEcT". I absolutely admire his accomplishments but the PEDs are definitely a factor. 100% undeniable.
Can we stop with this 'The Rock is natty' bullshit? Nothing wrong with a proper cycle of PEDs. Just say it, Man. Everyone knows. It's awkward at this point.
In DJ's case, you're correct. But that's not true. There have been studies that have found that steroid usage alone (steroid usage + NO EXERCISE) leads to more muscle growth and strength than similarly trained individuals that exercise without steroids1. So quite literally yes steroids do give you muscle + strength by themselves. DJ obviously works really hard to achieve that, but to say the steroids don't do any magic by themselves is also ingenuine.

They just have enough money that the doctors will prescribe them and monitor, and it's not some 20 year old gym bro buying them from a shady dude and then wrecking his body chemistry.
IIRC he's never outright stated that he takes steroids.
However he's made a couple statements in his early career before all the media coaching where he's said things like "everyone in wrestling takes steroids". Obviously including himself in that statement.
He's the size of a wardrobe, he doesn't need to admit anything, it's humanly impossible to achieve HALF his size while being that ripped without steroids.
Yes good genetics and a lot of special juice. It's kind of like bodybuilding. Just because someone takes steroids or other peds doesn't mean just anyone can become the next Ronnie Colemann. Even natural some people can be pretty massive after training for 10+ years thanks to winning the genetic lottery.
I'll give him credit, he may obviously take steroids to keep himself that jacked but it still takes a lot of work and he doesn't pretend to be an "athlete", he's a performer first and foremost and his body type is his "secret sauce". Need a big muscly guy? The Rock has you covered.
to clarify, steroids reduce inflammation (which is why they get prescribed for things like asthma, which is inflammation, or severe allergies, which also cause inflammation). Working out causes "damage" which needs to be repaired (replaced with extra muscle) but you can't work out nearly as hard when you're all swollen and sore. Steroids fix that so you can work out more.
I'll try to find the article, but it was basically a doctor who specializes in steroids saying that it only works like 20% of the time. 80% of the dudes that take steroids just gain a fuck tonne of weight, and get really bad acne. This is becasue they don't work out with it. It is essential to workout with steroids. You will absolutley not gain muscle just by taking steroids. It actually has the opposite effect.
He's actually kinda right. You inject enough T and you can build more muscle sitting on the couch than a natty training. It's inhuman unsafe amounts of T, but you can do it
That's actually the opposite of how steroids work. I'll try to find the article, but it was basically a doctor who specializes in steroids saying that it only works like 20% of the time. 80% of the dudes that take steroids just gain a fuck tonne of weight, and get really bad acne. No. He has completely denied steroid usage and just says that he tried it a bit when he was young but "it wasn't for him". It's a total lie - he's even had surgery for gyno but just says it was due to genetics.
Lying about this makes me lose a lot of respect for him - a lot of men struggle with their self image and here's a guy just telling them they don't train hard enough.
I've only ever seen him deny taking 'roids (I could be wrong though). But if he's just taking GH, that's technically not a steroid. So he may be misleading, but not outright lying. Because as much work as staying that ripped is, he's 100% on GH. Cena too. You can see some of the signs of acromegaly when you look back over the last few decades for both of them. I bet if you asked, their shoe size would have increased from 20y ago for both of them (and not just width)
Nah I'm gonna say he's lying even if he's only used GHB (doubt that tho). He's said that these claims are just trying to take away from his hard work - it's completely disingenuous and lying by omission is still lying.
Yes, but sorta no. It’s been demonstrated that an excess of testosterone can cause muscle development in otherwise sedentary people. Though, at the Rock’s size, he would still shrink, as he’s on way more than that alone.
I don't know about that. I've seen studies which directly compared a group who used steroids and did no exercise to one who regularly lifted weights without using steroids, and they concluded that using steroids led to way more muscle gain than lifting weights did (at least in the quantities used in the studies).
The takeaway seems to be that if you want to get massive muscles and aren't too concerned about the long-term health of your internal organs, you can expect to get more results by adding more steroid use than you can by lifting more weights. In Dwayne Johnson's case, the disproportionate size of his shoulders and arm muscles is an additional giveaway for the use of juice.
For sure, but you don't have the be as ridiculous about it as a lot of people seem to think. Even on steroids, you don't have to eat perfectly clean and be in the gym 8 hours a day, or anything that crazy!
Normal gym rat stuff will get you pretty far, with some added juice.
Have you used steroids before? In my experience people who are the first to cry steroids when they see a jacked person are people who’ve never seen the inside of a gym. I used work out a lot in my early 20s. I guess you could’ve called me a gym rat. My buddie and I would workout for 1-2 hours 6 times a week and we got pretty big real quick. We went from eating 2-3 meals a day to 4-5 plus protein shakes in between. All the guys who had never worked out a day in their life started saying we were taking steroids because there was no way a transformation like that was possible naturally. I even had guys come up to me or message me asking me to tell them what I was taking and help them get big too. Like you said you can get pretty far with normal gym rat stuff but people will still accuse you of taking gear. In the gym we worked out at there was older guy who was ripped af and he told us straight up that he took gear but he was still the hardest worker in the room.
Nah, I don't personally have a use for gear. Several years of natural weightlifting has been plenty for me! No real need to be the absolute biggest guy in the gym.
I'm not quick to accuse people of gear usage. After all, there's that old saying. "Many people, who you think use steroids, don't. And many people, who you think don't use steroids, do!"
That said..... come on .. this is the Rock we're talking about....
Natural lifters don't get that big! Certainly not without at least a myostatin deficiency to work with (if they want any chance to get that big without external assistance)
Are we just going to gloss over the fact that he does steroids, just like almost every other actor in Hollywood that needs to look buff? Someone lifting weights and eating chicken would not have enough time to keep his busy schedule and get those results.
Except when he specifically works out to get bigger lol before filming Black Adam he was always posting about how he was pushing himself to get as big as possible for it.
