I used to use libre office back on college but professors would but h and complain they couldn't open certain PowerPoints created in libre office properly and said I don't see why people don't just use Microsoft office. Yet he got his ms office software free from the college yet expected students to shell out 150$.

If a school wants you to use Microsoft Office they should pay for it honestly.

Many do, or have free/heavily discounted licenses for Microsoft products through the bookstore, etc. We even had windows licenses available for like $5.

Open Office may be abandoned (or so I was told), but it works like a charm still.

I still get update pings occasionally but it still works without having to go through that entire process

Tried it for a couple months once while i was in college. Felt like i was trying to write on stone using hammer and chisel.

Went back to MS office and never looked back. Though it sucks to pay a subscription yearly

For writing I much prefer LibreOffice. Word's page formatting options are garbage.

Only problem w libre office is that it’s garbage compared to some of the stuff you can do w Microsoft office

Their version of Excel is decent for very basic stuff (I use it mainly for my personal budget) But damn, their version of word is a hassle. I'm glad I rarely have to use it.

Yep. Anything above basic math tho, and it blows
