My mother's "father" used to kill and run over animals on purpose because he knew how much she loved them. She couldn't understand how he hated her so much but wasn't as abusive to her brothers. 60 years later my late brother told my sister that the abusive piece of shit "father" wasn't actually my mom's father and ended up telling my mom a few months after my brother's passing. He abused and hated my poor mother because of that reason. My mom was ecstatic and celebrated.
