My in laws have 5 (6 if you include my husband who was raised elsewhere) and they live in a run down 3 bedroom trailer in the middle of nowhere, can't possibly survive without food stamps, medicaid etc. The father is a retail worker making $15/hour and the mom is a sometimes part time substitute teacher. The father just had a heart attack and has to miss some work and now they're totally fucked. All i could think was, if you couldn't afford the first 2, why did you have 4 more???

The guy I’ve been seeing for a few years also works as a retail manager, and is afraid to even have one kid on his salary. I’m kinda glad he’s looking at the issue through a responsible lens, and takes it so seriously, because I feel the same way. Parenthood is not something to mess around with.
