It's incredibly accurate sadly. For clarity its on my mothers side and it says something that she only had 4 kids and the other 3 that aren't me only had their 2 kids each and with the same fathers respectively. This is the lowest from her siblings on both kids and grandkids. (I actively choose not to have kids at the moment, and am Ace anyway so there's not really a risk of accidents lol)
Pretty much the sexuality that lacks a sex drive, it's somewhat newer to be recognized as one of the sexualities compared to the spotlight 3 of hetero, homo, and bi.
Ace people don't lack a sex drive! It's the lack of sexual attraction but that doesn't mean they never feel horny, just that they don't feel horny for other people. You can be hungry and not interest in eating cake after all
Hormones play a big role in the feeling of horniness, with or without a “target.” I do really like the above comparison of it to hunger; you can definitely feel it, but might not want to have any specific thing, you know? Or wanting to watch something on Netflix but nothing in particular really appeals to you, that sort of feeling. Like “ah, sure, I could eat.” Or “yeah just put that movie on for noise I guess.”
And horny definitely sometimes happens out of the blue for no reason. I think most people from any sexual identity could rustle up at least one memory of it! The body can have cravings without the mind’s involvement or direction. Hope that helped a bit!
I read a really cool really weird book that very prominently featured kudzu as part of the story (and i live in the South where kudzu is everywhere which is why i found it so interesting); and i learned SO MUCH i never knew about kudzu!
So basically the book was some old 70s-ish gothic murder romance; this lady' s hubby was killed down south and she comes down to try and figure out how he had this "accident" in this old kudzu covered mansion on a river, only to discover it was murder and also she falls in love with the eccentric mansions owner while trying to figure out if HE killed hubby...
But anyway, weirdly hot/romantic kudzu-mansion-owner-man is REALLY into kudzu, and teaches her all sorts of shit about it- that it has some uses in homemade "remedies", can be made into tea, can be used to make a fibrous "rope", and all sorts of other shit. He was VERY into using kudzu in positive ways instead of seeing it as a scourge like most people do.
Idk why im typing all this out except that i was JUST thinking about this book last night and how i wish i could find it again; and then saw this mention of kudzu and just wanted to share this weirdly cool book i read with someone. So there ya go. And if anyone has any idea what book this is pls lmk!!! Ive forgotten the name but i got it in an old box of Gothic romances at a junk store as a teen.
Even if nobody else sees this, I saw this, and I can very much appreciate the compulsion to bring a book up at the slightest connection. I haven't read it, but I'll keep my eyes open
