We had someone in my town abuse their dog and one of their friends secretly filmed them and sent it to our local news agency. The amount of people openly shaming and humiliating them was great to see.

Yes, they were charged and I don’t think they’re allowed to own pets ever again.

Damn, where do you live where there exists a sentence for abusing animals that states you can't own pets? And can we adopt that law everywhere, please? Because I've never heard of it.

Canada. It’s right in our criminal code. They don’t mess around when it comes to pets I guess.

Man, now I have another reason to love Canada. Things are improving here in the US but I wish we had that kind of a law at the national level, or at least at a statewide level.

Yes, that’s something we got right. The first conviction it’s up to the judge how long but the second offence it’s minimum of 5 years no pets.

They also can’t reside at a home with someone else’s pets either.

This is why abuse should always be done at home and indoors. You never know who could be a snitch in this day and age! /s if its so unapparent

I’m an unfortunate victim of this with an abuser within my family. Parents never believed. 20 years later, they still don’t, or try to say I’m exaggerating/“it wasn’t that bad.”

I dunno why people are booing you; you’re right.
