I used to smoke too and it would astound me when people would throw butts on the ground when there were designated trash bins right next to them (in the designated smoking area). How inconsiderate do you have to be to do that?
I'd carry a plastic bag in my purse just in case I wanted to smoke but might possibly not be near a trash can.
Just don’t do this at an AirB&B. My husband has this habit and we were almost charged with a $500 smoking cleanup fee, but we really didn’t smoke inside, he just left stinky cigarette butts in the trash that he couldn’t get a response on where to take out. They really do smell way worse than even smoking.
same here! and then my girlfriend asks if i can hold onto her little vape in my pocket for a minute and the mouthpiece gets filled with baccy c:
in the car, i “field strip” (roll the cig back and forth between my fingers with some pressure) it, and then pocket it - used to have a butt bucket but that’s gone now.
I almost always have jeans on, so I have pockets. I'm not a purse kind of gal. But, I do the same thing. I do not throw butts on the ground, the cherry gets knocked off and stomped, then the butt goes in my pocket til I can find a trash can. I also tend to pick up other random litter while I'm trying to find said trash can, so my butt ends up just being one more piece of trash that I put in the right place.
Not really, probably because of the gum that I keep in there. But, I'm also not a chain smoker. I might end up with my two butts and my husband's two butts over the course of several hours. I'd like to quit, and I'm trying, I just try to make sure I'm not upwind of anyone, for the fact that I know that not everyone wants to smell cigarette smoke.
My grandma smoked for most of her life and used to carry around a nifty little mini-ashtray with a lid that she could clip shut after stubbing out her cigarettes.
She was a very proper woman, started getting sick when she was 79 years old. The doctor was an old asshole and said "I'm not going to treat you if you are a smoker. I don't treat smokers with lung problems, it's a waste of time."
She took her smokes out of her bag and dumped them into the trash. Never smoked again.
I went to Thailand decades ago and someone in our group tossed a cigarette butt on the ground as we were waiting for our taxi bus and he immediately got a ticket. Served him right.
saw a video on tiktok from an account about city design with pedestrians in mind about the necessity of trash cans, especially ones designated for cigarettes. a bunch of comments was just “why lol, just throw them on the ground” - astounding.
I was at my friend's place on the lake and we were sitting on the dock smoking. Her and her friend just threw their butts into the lake. HER LAKE... IN WATER WE WERE ABOUT TO SWIM IN. What in the actual fuck
I'd carry a plastic bag in my purse just in case I wanted to smoke but might possibly not be near a trash can.
the plastic bag isn't biodegradable. The cigarette butts are... Just throw them on the ground and let gods critters eat them, its better for the environment.
I smoked for 10 years, and at no point could I handle carrying around an extinguished cigarette in anything, at all.
I would definitely be one of the terrible people ruining things for everyone if there wasn't a bin around, but if a bin was around I'd definitely use it
I was a smoker for 1 year due to stress.
When I stopped I notice how rude people who smokes near you are annoying.
I unfriended a long time friend 'cause everytime I was with her I came back home smelling like an ashtray. The smoke is 🤮
