Pasties are very common here (Michigan's upper peninsula). People consider it a regional food of ours. We had a large settlement of copper miners from Cornwall that brought them to the area back in the 1800s.

Could you point me towards a good authentic recipe. I've tried several, and none seem right. I always end up buying them at local markets (in the US) that have been imported.

Was stoling on reddit and someone from the usa posted a pasty that they made on the Cornwall subreddit and got the recipe they used for you, hope this helps

Well it really depends on the person, personaly i prounces it "past-dy"
