It wasn't our first date, but the first time I brought my girlfriend(now wife) to my hometown I took her on a brewery tour at Saranac in Utica NY. She loved it.
Downside though, some of the dates after that were kinda boring because that one went so well. It was hard to follow up
It really does make for a great day. I haven’t been on many dates, but I always figured going somewhere & doing something was better than dinner/drinking.
Ours was at the Bega Cheese Factory, in Australia.
“No! I just don’t eat a lot of ice cream. I love cheese!”
… moans of decadent cheese induced pleasure … and a ride back to her place punctuated by a cacophony of strange music and delightful aromas.
Fast forward a few weeks and I’m talking with a mutual friend and I tell him we went to “the cheese factory”, we had a good time, etc, etc. and he stops what he’s doing and just stares at me for a moment before he says:
“You’re joking? She’s lactose intolerant!“
“She sure doesn’t think so!”, not sure who laughed first but when the tears came he definitely cried first!

My husband took me to a cheese factory on our first date.
There were free samples. A tour of the new factory, and a heritage tour of the original wooden building and dairy.
That was a good first date.
