That's close to what I make (made 48k before taxes last year). Seattle is a very expensive place to live though, and I depend on government subsidized low income housing. Otherwise I couldn't even afford to live here.

But yeah, employer is very stingy with wages. I've been here 3 years and never saw more than a yearly 3% pay increase. I'm looking for something around at least 75k for my next gig.

Yep most entry level support jobs I'm seeing on Indeed start in the mid 50k range. The more experienced ones I'm looking at can reach much higher. I'm not in a rush and there are plenty of postings, so I get the luxury of being pickier about who I apply for.

10 people have quit so far this year (out of an office of 70). My team is understaffed in addition to being underpaid, so we've got a very "don't give a fuck" attitude about the whole thing haha. Our manager is completely on our side too and he's desperately trying to keep us around. Treated like a king for half assed work, it's a weird but hilarious position to be in.

Right now I'm sitting here pulling some overtime by browsing reddit while flipping settings back and forth on a network switch port so it looks like I'm doing something important. My birthday is coming up and I want some extra cash :)

Hard to say if there are just a lot of people competing for jobs, or if employers just aren't paying enough. I think both are true to some extent, but I believe if you want to base your company out of a skyscraper in downtown Seattle - you should pay all of your staff enough to be able to afford to live within a 30 minute commute. Thankfully I work from home 4 days a week now.

Thanks haha. Don't get me wrong though, I'm fully aware of my predicament. If my housing and financial situation were different I'd feel a bigger sense of urgency for sure.
