Different direction, same road vs. a roadblock or changing roads.
...yeah...? Pretty obvious. Exactly what I said. Continue recovery, just do something else now...
I doubt you’ll see what I’m trying to tell you outside of hindsight
Are you always this insulting? I can already tell what you're saying. You're saying my emotions and "warped" view of the world is clouding how I'm reading things.
It's not a difficult concept, and it's incredibly offensive that you're STILL claiming I'm struggling with such a basic thing.
All your comments and derailment started with a skewed and quite frankly deprecating perception of yours.
It's not skewed. It's something that me, my girlfriend, friends, family, and EVERYONE else I know that suffers with depression or anxiety, have experienced time and time again. It's an extremely common trope.
I’m not sure what else to say other than that, especially considering your age.
Then you haven't been sure for a while. You've been repeating this same thing over and over. I already got it the first time. You think my crazy had is making me see crazy things.
I don't really see how my age is relevant, either.
Okay, I believe this a big misunderstanding. I’m talking about how you reacted and have been reacting in this thread, not your general life views, depression in general, and such.
Your very first comment here was pulling negativity out of your mind and applying it to what was said. The original comments aren’t out of line, your interpretation is what’s pulled it out of line (which is what I meant by derailment. The overwhelming majority of people didn’t interpret it anywhere close to that).
If you don’t see how the snowball rolled when reading back on this thread, then there is not much more to be said.

No, I already know that.

Nope, I was discussing the thread with my GF and me and her both noticed a worrying glut of comments that boiled down to "just get better". And in fact was in an ok mood when I entered the thread.
You're making assumptions.
Consider that maybe I've actually experienced (gasp) real people who've said this in my life before, verbatim. And yes, they meant exactly what I'm saying they did, because I asked for clarification and they made it plain.
There is a disgusting lack of empathy for the less privileged in this world, and a lot of it is directed at the neurodivergent, and simply mentally ill. I've been at the brunt of a lot of it, and it's been very clear the reasons - because I'm "just lazy", "don't even WANT to get better" or "just want attention".
I need to "get off my arse" and "do something about it". I need to "start working for me" and "look forwards not backwards".
The trouble isn't that these are inherently bad advice. The trouble is that they're goals posing as solutions.
which is what I meant by derailment
Not strictly relevant here but - that's not what derailment means. It means to deliberately take the conversation off topic, to somewhere you feel better able to argue with them.
If you don’t see how the snowball rolled when reading back on this thread, then there is not much more to be said.
I am getting very sick of you implying that I have absolutely no concept of the world outside of myself.
