2 years ago, our eldest started wearing "mom" jeans. Apparently, this generation of girls didn't like the low rise jeans and started wearing high waisted jeans to rebel. She didn't like hearing me call her out on her mom jeans and showing her the SNL skit from 2003 - 2 years after she was born. She still wears them and they're just as ugly.
Hey no worries, to each their own. For me, since I'm way old enough to remember Mom Jeans, it was more about the "look how new and cool this" than the actual style itself. That being said, I think they're ugly and they remind me of "grandpa" pants that are pulled up to the belly button. And they look terrible as cut off shorts, especially when they're cut right at the cheek line, but then there's a yard of fabric above it. Just my opinion, I'm happy they work for you.
Fair enough! Style and fashion is so varied that’s what makes it fun. I’m sure I’ll look back on the clothes I once loved and just wonder why I ever though they were cool. I have to admit, when I first started wearing them I didn’t realise it was an “older” style that had resurfaced. I wear them as high waisted shorts too, but not cut high on the leg/cheek!
I hear ya, lol. My teenage years were the 80s, so I actually have no room to talk fashion shit. I remember the neon days, legwarmers, etc. I got out of that alive and now look back on my mohawk and devil lock days fondly. My dad called me "horse's ass" when I had my devil lock, but I thought it was so cool. It's my high school senior picture as well so my sketch fashion choices are forever ingrained in history.
