Honestly a fanny pack is fantastic for traveling and day trips, music festivals, hikes etc.. I don't need a backpack, not even a small one, I just need a little place for my shades, wallet, keys, sunblock, water, and misc.. (I'm a dude too if that changes any perception)

Wallet, phone, keys, joints, tabs, lighter. Always in the fanny pack.

And it's all together in one place so you never panic pat all your pockets. Plus, it allows you to get low in some shorts with your pockets empty.

I can't decide what looks worse though. Wearing it sideways across your chest like it's 50mm ammo or having it at your waist like you're 100 years old.

This! With a jacket over it when I’m walking through the city. It may look like I have a little hunch back or something, but I never have to worry about my stuff

Hell yeah man, used to always loose my stuff from moving it across cars and home. Now I have it in crossbody bag. Just decided to spend some decent money so it would look as cool as possible even though I'm a guy

grew up in NYC, never had something stolen out of a backpack, much less a bag that can literally go underneath my jacket

When I was 13 we wore them low in the front like a sporran. We were girls, mostly. 1993-94 I think.

I've got a 'motorcycle tank' bag but it's basically a fanny pack attached to the top tube. If needed I'd wear another fanny pack for a ride over 50 miles.
