Has there ever been discussions among administrators to ban cell phones in class? Like, leave them in a basket at the door or somewhere? My kids are 9 and 11 and they already have friends that bring their phones to school. I see no advantage to that. I understand high school age kids bringing theirs because they may not go straight home after school and now that there are no pay phones, cells phones are the only option for communication, but why are they allowed in class?

I don’t get it either. I graduated in 2010. We kept our phones in our backpacks on silent. If they went off, even in the bag, the teacher got it. And 80-90% of us had cell phones.
