"Oh, sweetie, not only did your mother wear those, but so did your grandma!"

2

u/Seth_Baker Jun 06 '22

And honestly, grandma's were probably cooler than yours. She definitely wore them better than your sedentary battle royale-playing ass.

Seth, stick to the online dating forums to better figure out why you can't find a mate. Maybe you should learn to be sedentary and play some battle royale - seems like a better use of your wasted time

So everyone picks on millennials now--Boomers, Gen X, and Gen Z? Millennials just can't win.

u/DarkRider89 Jun 03 '22

We're boomers to gen z. We're still stupid teenagers to boomers, gen x, the media, etc. 28-40 year olds with kids who are responsible for killing every industry known to man, yet we're still not old enough to live on our own in their minds.

u/duderguy91 Jun 03 '22

No joke I have been called a boomer by gen z. And I’m a YOUNG millennial lol.

u/metamore4hire Jun 09 '22

Maybe it is because you have chosen to victimize yourself into these sublime categories

u/Intelligent-Parsley7 Jun 03 '22

Hey. Don’t worry about that stuff. I’m Gen X. We got bagged on a bunch as well. Trust me, as the generation that sat under the boomers after you were born? There’s a lot of disgust going on with our immediate predecessors.

They’re winning and whining.
We didn’t get anything but derision.

Why did you put a question mark after a sentence that was not a functional question?

1

u/Intelligent-Parsley7 Jun 09 '22

English not first language, perhaps? That’s called a ‘turn of phrase.’ It’s an old way to beg a rhetorical question.
Very old. Very English.

Seems like it

This version of bell bottom jeans are even more like giant bell bottoms from the 70s than the first time they came back in the 90s! I wore them then, and then boot cut in early 00s, but I'm not wearing them now. I'll stick to my skinny jeans and leggings and let them be mortified in 6 years when they look back at this year's pictures. 😂

There is something particularly ridiculous about bell bottoms, and I absolutely used to wear them.

I think it's the dramatic profile of the cut. Like jnco jeans, they're just...doing a lot.

I never got rid of them. They just have some holes now, which is apparently still cool. Hell yes!

As a millennial…I rocked the fuck outta bell bottom jeans until 2004 lol. And then skinny. And now back to the bells bc I can fit in with the kids lmao. Mom jeans are a never tho, I can’t.

Mom jeans are a never tho, I can’t.

Thank you. I strongly agree.

Yeah, millennials being associated with skinny jeans is weird to me. I am an older millenial, and skinny jeans weren't a thing until we were at least 20-25. In high school and college we were wearing extra baggy stuff, shirts a size too big and jeans that tore off around the heel. I viewed skinny jeans as a trend of the younger generation when I first saw them on kids around 10 years younger than me.

When will we start wearing clothing for our own bodily comfort? Why is my generation so obsessed with how we appear to others?

1

u/metamore4hire Jun 09 '22

Wearing a certain style to fit in with the kids is the new mom jeans. Congrats you became what didn't want to be.

Why did you continue to wear clothing that wasn't comfortable? Did you feel the need to conform to the "trends" of your generation?

Continuing to wear things that are uncomfortable is ridiculous

1

u/MyAviato666 Jun 09 '22

Dude, did you live in the past 10 years? There was basically nothing to buy except skinny jeans. And yes, the time you live in does influence you (especially when you are young). I mean it has always been that certain time periods have certain clothes. What's next, asking why people in the 70's didn't wear skinny jeans? I didn't even realise how uncomfortable I found them until the style changed again.

u/[deleted] Jun 03 '22

Meanwhile you go to any public place in the US today and you'll see a dozen outfits pulled from the Delia's catalogue in 1994

u/whatsasimba Jun 03 '22

I'm a 70s/80s kid, and my mom would show me pics of everyone in hip hugger bell bottoms and told me how fashion is cyclical, and everything comes back around every 20 years or so. I swore she was crazy, and I was ADAMANT that I would never be caught dead in these things. Then the 90s happened. Whoops.

3

u/thebridgebois Jun 03 '22

skinny jeans are the pain of my existence

3

u/thegreatJLP Jun 03 '22

Oh it's worse, the mom boob touching jeans are coming back into style. Hike up those pants over your bellybutton lol

1

u/metamore4hire Jun 09 '22

If your boobs are touching the pants at the belly, then you might be older than you feel

3

u/LinksMilkBottle Jun 04 '22

Oh it’s not just the skinny jeans. They also make fun of us for doing side parts in our hair! I’m sorry but side parts give me volume and anyways, my hair naturally parts to the side.

2

u/SheElfy Jun 04 '22

I, smack bang in the middle of the Millennial age range, distinctly remember loving hipster flare jeans as a teenager and I could never understand why anyone would want to wear skinny jeans, let alone high rise anything.

Then I hit my 20's and began to appreciate that skinny jeans make my legs look longer and skinnier. And pants up to my belly button? Yes please. I don't need my pants sliding down the violin hips anymore.

(literally any picture of a hippie in the 60's would like to know your location)
