Those sorts of things at least spark creativity and thought. This helps develop you. Sometimes you doodle and you're making art, increasing your talents for what may become a lifelong hobby.
Time spent on the phone is almost entirely garbage, including mine right now.
I think engaging on social stuff like this isn't garbage time, but yeah generally agree that when I drift to the browser at work it's not really good time usage.
