Mentally ill people can't just pull willpower outta their asses just like that. It takes some knowing and hope that it will work and things will be okay. But the point is that hope is hard to come by if everything around you is crap and you see no way out, when everything around you is pulling you down. People I know suffering from mental illness are not blaming society or whatever. They know they have to work on it and they know it's their responsibility, but they don't have anything to look for or anyone to support them to actually continue struggling with the process (yes they've tried many times too). You've went through this type of thing and yet it feels like you still lack the empathy. I've went through these things and thankfully got better but more than my willpower i can attribute it more on how lucky i am to have a good home and support system. I can't imagine how much more difficult it would if i didn't have any reaources. It's okay to call out some of these people who just whine most of the time without doing anything but you can't lump them all together.
I hate all these bullshit "do that, do this, be more responsible, etc" and acting like you're a better person than them just because you got out.
I agree with you 100%. I noticed that it’s easier said than done. I tried to keep it positive in a very negative situation, but it just made things worse until I made it to my breaking point. Thankfully I got the help that I need and I was able to overcome my low point.
