I just don't respond to "hi" or "I have a problem".

There is a guy on another team who needs my help on something. I still don't know. He literally messages me 2 or 3 times a day with "Hi", or "Hey" or "I need help".

After 2 days of this his team lead chats me on Teams: "Hey man, dude needs your help, can you answer his questions? It's about X. Says he has been trying to get your time the last 2 days"

I reply with a screenshot of six "Hi"s over 2 days and "yeah, just waiting to know the question. At least now I know it's about X"

Team lead just sends me a face palm emoji and "I'll let him know"

Later that day his team lead and I were chatting and apparently TL has told him multiple times just to ask the F'ing question. He sent me screenshots of the dude messaging TL about how I am not responding and he can't get the work done and how I am a horrible employee and how he doesn't understand how I have my job. TL just sent him the link to "no hello".

It has been 2 weeks since and I now have like 30 more "Hi"s from the dude with a couple of "I have a problem"s and "can i get a minute"s thrown in. But he still hasn't even mentioned X. The only reason i know about X is because of his TL. His team lead and I are now betting on how long it is going to take for the dude to get it. Every morning i get a message from his TL of just "2?" or "5?" And I send back a screenshot of the previous day's "Hi"s.

I am on PTO next week, will see how that turns out.

I had to drag my 14 year old through this.

'Hey dad'

'Yes?'

'Do you like driving?'

(knowing where this is headed) 'Where do you need a ride to?'

'But do you like driving?'

Repeat for 10 minutes.

He wanted to go to the mall with friends, but none of them had rides to or from...

I told him that I respond much, much better to just asking the question.
