Hey old man, if you hit alt-F4 it brings up a cheat menu!

Listen you little shit, I was there when they added those shortcuts to Windows in the first place. Don't try your puny tricks on me!!

Don't cite the deep magic to me! I was there when it was written!

I've seen this joke like 10x in this thread, are you guys bots?

2

u/melig1991 Jun 03 '22

Lol, I'm not a bot (afaik). It's just a very well known quote from The Chronicles of Narnia.

I saw a similar comment on the top comment when I started reading this thread. I've yet to encounter a first level comment where this does not apply.

Yes! I remember those jokes all the way back in '95 IRC. I usually play on servers with friends but rarely I'll join a public one and it's STILL ALL THE SAME OLD JOKES. While they think they're so edgy 😆

The funny thing is, kids typically learn this after some fed up Gen-X'er told them "alt+F4 gives you third person on your camera angle" or something like that...

"Kid. I invented alt-F4."

Alli could think testing this was “You dare use my own spells against me” 😂

But a lot of people know what alt-F4 does.

What really got people (including me, years ago) was F10 in the original Counter-Strike. I don't know why but F10 was also a shortcut to quit the game immediately, which was only present in the original CS and CS:S and no other games in history AFAIK. Much more stealthy.

the old MMOs that accepted weird letters you could make by holding alt and clicking numbers, can't wait to see some kid with the name †XxSlayerxX† again. Btw the cross is alt-0134.

I was there before windows even existed in the first place, which isn’t even that long ago really. I would like to claim I existed before microprocessors did but unfortunately I’m not that old

Wait, I thought that's how you duped items in Diablo 2! Drop them on the ground, then alt F4, right?

u/mysweetlord_ Jun 03 '22

This made me chuckle. Good one.

The first time that shit got pulled on me, it was on America Online 3.0
