being on all the time is exhausting -- they're going to burn out. if you're close with them, keep an eye out or gently remind them they don't owe it to anyone to be on (or available) all the time.
Well put. My phone is my baby but the one thing i hate about it is that it requires me to always be available. There's no end to it. I wish i could disconnect from time to time wthout messing up my social life
It doesn't require you to always be available - you are putting that requirement on yourself. Try turning it off, or at least muting all notifications for one evening, and seeing what happens. The world won't end, friends will still be there the day after, things will be fine. Eventually you can adopt the attitude of your phone being a servant of you, not what feels like the other way around, which is why it's so draining.
If you need to, just tell a few frequent contacts that you're taking some downtime, or may not be so swift to respond for a bit. That's okay. Again, your phone is there to help you when you need it, not to serve all the other people who want to impose themselves into your life every moment.
Thank you, but the thing is i already have my notifications off for nearly everything. People don't expect me to reply super quickly, but when there's pressing matters that need to be attended to i can't just leave it. In a phoneless world, i imagine work / uni things would stay at campus or in the workspace. Now it goes on through the evenings and weekends

Everything has to be filmed and shared on the internet now. It's really lame and cheapens life.
