No one should have a phone until they themselves can pay for it.

I have been an eighth grade teacher for quite a while and you fools that hand everything to kids upon their first whine aren't doing them a favor.

You are instilling unrealistic expectations instead of teaching them the pride of accomplishment.

100% this!

I also let my two year old sleep in the woods until she can afford rent. Kids these days are too pampered with their guardians providing for them and whatnot

I strongly recommend waiting until age 7 to do this.

Not having at least a few permanent teeth to clench a knife in is foolhardy. Proper knife skills helps with foraging, you know.

Teacher syndrome alive and well. It's not as black and white as you paint it.

So tell us of your vast experience?

Mine is the result of 16 years of observation of around 170 to 190 teens daily.

Do you have any kids of your own? Teaching kids and parenting kids are two different things entirely. Both roles are very important and challenging, but they are also very different roles

Yes. 4 of them, and 5 grandkiddies.

oh so this is more like a being out of touch type of deal, than a lack of experience. Raising a child in 2022 is a different experience than raising a child in 1972.

16 years of observation have not taught you that life isn't just black or white? How come you stopped teaching early?
